I admittedly don't know much about the details of ol' girl. When you say subordinate, like was she actively working under him in football ops(no pun intended)? Or was she a "subordinate" in the sense she worked in the Michigan athletic department but not necessarily with the football team?

She was his assistant. Obvious no-no at any organization.

So you think it’s none of a company’s business if their leadership is having sex with someone they manage?

To be fair, if the two, at the time, say nothing is happening and all they have is rumors, what can they do?

Investigate it.

Waiting until after the season to investigate is a good reason to get sued.

Firing someone for cause based on hearsay of an affair isn't going to hold up, even if everyone knows. These situations almost all end up in court. Mel Tucker, Sark, Pitino ect.

what a retarded take.

Wasn’t Briles cleared when all was said and done?

I mean, it sounds like they were investigating it if both were brought in and asked about it.

I mean, who cares if he is having an affair? It's shitty from a moral standpoint, but if she's of-age, who gives a frick if he's fricking a co-worker? If I had to guess, an overwhelming majority of college coaches have a sidepiece.

We aren’t talking about the manager at Office Max fricking a cashier. This is one of the most visible figures at one of the country’s biggest institutions of higher education. The UM brand is massive, top 10 easily.

And you think it’s ok for their coach, who has a family, to be banging a staffer on the side? And it’s ok if people know this?

Investigating while still allowing them to exist in power positions and not reassigning or on leave pending?

That is one plan.

The only reason the story changed is that Michigan saw he was overmatched as a head coach this season. They waited until he had a bad season,

They went 9-3 and their only losses are at OU, at USC, and Ohio State. He's not getting fired in year 2 for the crime of going to the Citrus Bowl. He's getting canned b/c they found out she was pregnant which proved the affair and that he lied to them.

She is pregnant and he threatened murder/suicide which may have something to do with it but let’s not miss an opportunity to blame others and not hold him accountable.

I don't think any of that is ok. But again, sadly, I'd imagine the majority of college coaches have a sidepiece.

Just look at the last three LSU coaches, all have either been implicated or rumored to have had affairs. And now they have Kiffin who already had his marriage end because of an affair.

frick-you money makes dudes feel like they have an invincible dick.

I guess I just didn't view this as a big story until the arrest and subsequent details of the arrest arose.

Was the timeline of this before or after he was fired?

When she, allegedly, gets pregnant and he is trying to physically harm everyone involved, that's when the school has to step in.

Liability fricking a subordinate. Rules against that at most companies. If he was single and it was a peer, they could obviously tell the administration they are dating and it would be fine.

Terrible optics that he is married with kids is just added on top. Public figures have higher standards for things like that and often rules written into contracts.

It’s a story the minute the affair started because it opened up the university to a huge sexual harassment lawsuit.
