Feldman saying such a large gap between 1st and 2nd place in this particular stat is very rare

• Prior to Saturday's game, Michigan had been allowing 220 yards per contest, which was 41.5 fewer yards than the nation's next best defense (Miami). After U-M only gave up 186 yards to PSU and the Hurricanes yielded 290 in a loss to Duke, the Wolverines are now allowing 48.5 fewer yards than any other team in college football.

Michigan has allowed just SEVEN rushing yards in last 2 weeks, both against top 25 teams

Their defense is very very good.

Say what you want about Penn State, but they have a good offense...what they did to them on Saturday was very impressive. Pass D is nasty

Actually, PSU’s offense has been a disappointment this year

McSorely has regressed it seems. They really miss Barkley and morehead.

To be honest, I wonder if Michigan’s defense is a bit inflated because of the shitty offenses and QBs they have faced

Lewerke, hornibrook? Having awful years

Maryland QB is arse too

sure, but even adjusted for opponents offenses, Michigans defense still rates as the best

Penn State doesn't have very many good players on offense this year. Their personnel is lacking.

Michigan will get exposed by Clemson or Alabama if they make the playoffs.

Their isn't a playoff caliber team in the Midwest this year including Notre Dame. The 1st Rd will be blowout city if either or both make it in.

Had a couple pretty bad weather games too.

But Michigan clearly has a very talented defense regardless of who y’all play.

Our already shitty run game is going to get eaten up by Michigan. I fully expect Dwayne to through 70 more passes in this game.

Not talking shite, but I'd be curious to see what our offense would look like with Book and Williams playing against you all. You all had Gary at full tilt back then as well.

Abu, the ND game (and to a lesser extent our weird game against SMU) is the one that really stands out as the outlier

Although, UM did do well in 2nd half, but kelly called a criminally vanilla 2nd half which actually gave Mich a chance to tie Game with a minute left

There are some ND pundits - and I wouldn't count myself among them - who think that Wimbush was a better match up against UM's D than Book regardless of how they've played this year. I don't really buy that, and Book's body of work this year has been stellar, but some people do think that.

We definitely went into a shell in the 2nd half, and it's not the first time we've done that, and it's also not the first time a critical special teams mistake kept an opponent we were more or less controlling in the game (see: Northwestern this past weekend, as another example).

I think the major difference between us and the rest of your schedule is that we have several really big (6'4"+), physical dudes with legitimate NFL futures out there catching balls for us (Boykin, Claypool, Jones, Kmet, etc.). I don't think anyone else on your schedule has had anywhere near the receiving corps we have, and that was the difference maker. Wimbush (and Book) are quick enough that they can make you pay if you only bring four and try to sit back in zone against our receivers.

Just looked at the Michigan box scores and those are the only two teams with over 300 yards of offense (by a combined 19 years). That is nuts.

Y'all held MSU to 94 yards.

Michigan is legit, but they would not compete against Bama. Its just a bad bad matchup for them

Clemson and Ohio St are the only teams that could beat bama. Teams with talent and coaching staffs that can gameplan well for a big game.

I think Bama/Mich would look a lot like the LSU game.

There is a theory that only an Oklahoma squad might be able to take them out, but I think that would end up 50-30 Bama.
You're probably right that only Clemson has the firepower on both sides of the ball to compete.

Unfortunately yes

I still think Ohio State has a chance. Urb is one of the best coaches for big games. He wins something like 83% of the time against when its a top 10 matchup

Ehh, let's see what happens. Meyer teams are known for laying an egg and then exploding. Nebraska wasn't a convincing win, but some things absolutely went the right direction in the run game

We shall see what kind of run game they can generate against MSU who is very good against the run as well.

Maybe with Bosa, but I certainly don't see it without him and with that OL this year.
