Healthy Steph can run off 3 screens in one play and hit a 35 footer in your face with ease lol. No one was doing anything remotely close to that in the 80s and 90s. Saying he would tire out because someone could hand check him is so lazy, and I hate Steph.

His range definitely creates spacing issues

Particularly in a man to man era

The 2017/2018 Warriors if healthy would run any team from the 90s out of the gym easily.

People easily acknowledge that from a rules standpoint the NFL was a tougher league in the 90s. But they're not stupid enough to think that the players from today wouldn't dominate those teams. Somehow they can't seem to apply that same logic to the NBA.

you think guys in the 80s/90s were not juicing?

lots of juicing but back in those days, there was a belief that you would lose agility and explosiveness if you lifted too much, so you see the Ethiopain-looking guards. ironically, it was jordan who changed that mentality for guards

and Jordan was definitely juicing when he completely reshaped his body just prior to the first threepeat

Man what would happen if LeBron or Durant went up against those Bad Boy Piston's teams. That would have been interesting....

Last time LeBron played a Pistons in the playoffs...he dethroned the former NBA Champions Pistons team by scoring 25 points in a row to end the Pistons dynasty...a dynasty that included 6 Eastern Conference Championship appearances in a row. Interesting indeed....

You don't think players today would struggle? They are incredibly coddled. There would be dramatically more travel, practices, very little rest and therapy. The game was much more physical, less time with family, isolation. No social media. Players were expected to be professionals and adults. Its a different world. I'm sure most would adjust and be fine. But to act like it wouldn't make a difference is optimistic..

i'm talking bout play on the court. the other stuff you listed is pretty peripheral and typical of these conversations

same as the "mental toughness" BS

That part of what makes me laugh about the "LeBron couldn't handle the Bad Boys" argument. He could dominate this guy:

But apparently would have been outmuscled by this guy:

durant Wouldn’t but Lebron would absolutely still dominate. In fact had he played back then his game might’ve improved. He never would’ve launched the # of 3’s back then that he has in current era. He would’ve been more focused on attacking & mid-range.

I’m not saying he would’ve been the best player, but he absolutely would’ve been a dominate player. Durant would be a role player, and steph curry would’ve already been murdered by someone in college.

hand checking primarily is a defense against drivers

Durant is a better, taller, more athletic version of larry bird

Durant is soft as frick. He would get bossed all over the court, because the refs would allow it.

the thing is, he's not

sure he's skinnier than his contemporaries but that wouldn't affect him in the much weaker/skinnier 80s/90s era

you think ole bill could hang with durant?

who is guarding KD on the perimeter out of that trio of hulks?

A totally different game back then. They would beat up Durant so much he would want to quit. Bron is a bead but he cries enough now. He would act like a little baby back then.

LeBron would have been better than MJ in a era with no zone defense.

In 2001 due to Shaq the zone defense was made legal. Before then if you did not have the ball you could only be guarded by one man. Therefore a lot of isolation plays were the way to go in the 80’s and 90’s.

Lebron is and has stayed bigger, faster, stronger than MJ for 20 years. Today’s league has proved how great Lebron is. He is an 80’s or 90’s player still dominating in a shooters league.

Lebron is one of the biggest crybaby bitches in today's game. This is a league with no big men at center. He would get knocked on his arse back in the 80's and 90's!
