Just seems like there’s a lot more to this story that isn’t being told.

Convene a jury and let there be a fair hearing. If they find in favor of the Tuohys then let there be nothing more said about it. Should the jury come back with a guilty verdict, however, hang them and put their bodies on display.

Kaep's family told him they didn't approve of his hairstyle/presentation. Something kids from all races and creeds deal with to some degree from their parents. To still be complaining about that in your 30s is childish
Oher's family apparently used him to get a lot of royalties from a movie/book that they didn't include him in.

There’s a special place in hell for those people
The facts are "those people" were by any measure, extremely wealthy and with no apparent ulterior motive, brought a virtually homeless 16 yr old kid into their home. Two years later, Michael Lewis wrote a book about their story. The film wasn't released for another 3 years.
So, this multi-millionaire takes a flyer on bringing a black kid into his home and plays the five year long con in hopes of making a few million off of a movie deal?
By the way, Touhy owned 50 plus fast food restaurants at the time Oher came into their life. That number grew to over a hundred. Strange that this lawsuit doesn't come out until Tuohy cashes out those holding for $213 Million in 2019.
Finally, ask yourself, what are the chances Oher makes it out of high school, into college, and into the NFL and $30M in earnings, if he doesn't get brought into the Touhy family?
But yeah, they deserve a special place in hell.

Me questioning Ohers motives have more to do with him just releasing a book and waiting 20ish years to figure this out.

He should have sued them for making him look like a retard. At one point in the movie he stops playing football mid play to point to a balloon in the sky
Hugh Freeze would have a case as well. Sandra Bullock had to tell him how to coach high school football.

Sounds like he blew all his money like most dumb athletes and now is desperate.

Dude has a book about to come out. What better way to drum up interest than a lawsuit?
My opinion on the whole thing is the family seemed like your typical fake, megachurch family with a little money. Sleazy as frick but did a little good in the side. But his whole claim about he had no idea he hadn't made a dime off the movie until February of this year seems a bit hard to believe. I'm sure it isn't necessarily moral, but I'm not sure they broke any laws in what they did.
Gonna be interesting to watch it play out.

wait!, I' m just noticing the timeline of all of this shite.
how the hell did anyone connected to him get paid for a book and movie about him while he was still at Ole Miss?
Yeah with NIL rules of today, that's not an issue.
but in 2006 and 2007?!?
quote:
The petition alleges that the Tuohys began negotiating a movie deal about their relationship with Oher shortly after the 2006 release of the book "The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game," which chronicled the story.
According to the legal filing, the movie paid the Tuohys and their two birth children each $225,000, plus 2.5% of the film's "defined net proceeds." The movie became a critically acclaimed blockbuster, reportedly grossing more than $300 million at the box office, and tens of millions of dollars more in home video sales. The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, and Sandra Bullock won a Best Actress trophy for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy. While the deal allowed the Tuohys to profit from the film, the petition alleges, a separate 2007 contract purportedly signed by Oher appears to "give away" to 20th Century Fox Studios the life rights to his story "without any payment whatsoever." The filing says Oher has no recollection of signing that contract, and even if he did, no one explained its implications to him.

They might have did him shitty, but I’m not crying for a dude who had a nice long NFL career… would it have happened without the Tuohys?
I mean.. maybe? The dude was 6'5, 300 pounds. He was coached by Hugh Freeze in high school. The Tuohys didn't make Micheal into a great football player. He did not learn football from his 8 year old brother training him, or Sandra Bullock did not walk on the field in the middle of practice to teach clueless bumbling Michael how to block and be aggressive.
They did help him get great tutoring services to be eligible for Ole Miss. But chances are without them, he would have just went to a Junior College for 2 years before transferring.

With Hollywood accounting, they probably received 0 of the net proceeds...Hollywood accountants are good at screwing anyone with a % of the net by loading up all sorts of marketing expenses, etc. to show even the most successful moving as showing a net loss.
Always get a % of the gross proceeds, not net, when you deal with Hollywood.
