Matt Rhule

What this guy has been able to accomplish through out his coaching career is absolutely astonishing. I remember posting at the end of 2022 who everyone thought would end up being the best hire that year (fickell, freeze, Rhule, etc.)
He has Nebraska somewhat respectable again after being left as ashes from a dumpster fire. Granted I know they have a generational talent at quarterback right now. But regardless of NIL, you wouldn’t have a 5 star+ go play for some no name.
Looking at their schedule I see them rolling into Ohio State 7-0 and a fringe top 10 team and you know the media will be hyping them up.
Either way the guy deserves a ton of credit. And I know Nebraska fans are thrilled to have him. His defenses always show up and play hard nose football.
And kudos to you for sending Shedeur into the locker room with 4 minutes left in the game.

I wanna see Nebraska be great again.

I remember when he trotted his QB back in the game with a concussion his last year at Baylor. He's a fine coach and a great person.

I agree, as long as it’s college football.

he was always going there

Currently in the best position of those class of 2016 coaches (Herman and Fuente).

They had buy him out of a commitment elsewhere but as you said it wasn't a monumental feat to get him given his family ties.

Make no mistake…The old powers like nebraska, Tennessee, Miami are looking good today because the QBs they managed to land….not necessarily because of the head coaches. It’s a QBs game.

Carolina looks significantly worse since they fired him. They have the worst owner in the NFL.

CFB is more fun with with a respectable Nebraska team. Matt Rhule is a hell of coach.

Tennessee wasn't ever the power the other two were.

Definitely don't think this is true with Tennessee either. Huepel has done pretty well there with 3 different guys at QB.

I agree with you 100%. But you don’t land high end QB’s without a head coach from a bad pedigree. Of the teams you just listed, all have made respectable hires within the past few years. Lane kiffin is a great example of this. He will have much more success recruiting high end QB’s than say Dave Aranda. I believe having a head coach with a proven winning record goes a long way.

He got real lucky to get a legacy QB. Because last season showed QB evaluation is a problem.
It's a high-profile win because Deion Sanders coaches Colorado.
Colorado actually beat them by a wider margin last year.
They've done some good things with the defense. I knew Colorado had rough water ahead when I saw how that defense played against UTEP. Still an awful showing by Colorado. Best game plan would've been to quick-hit the NU defense down the field.
For one reason, because sometimes it's the good play to make a short pass when it's there based on the coverage of the defense. And two, that's about the only thing the Colorado OL is reliable to block for anyway.
One problem with that, though, is Deion seems to have deemphasized TEs in the offense, which I think is a mistake. There's so much focus on skill guys that it seems that other positions get neglected. I thought the TE from last season, Harrison, was a good player. He transferred out. And obviously they have problems in every facet of how offensive lines are evaluated, developed, game-planned for, etc. And it's so bad that Shedeur and the skill players are unable to perform when they play good defenses.

quote:let’s pump the breaks on that. Still Rhule was going to be a home run hire to whoever when he was coming back to college after the panthers job. His work at temple & Baylor are incredible work.
Granted I know they have a generational talent at quarterback right now.

he will bring nubs back to being a top20ish program
guy can build a program, but does he leave? SEC job, in a state with talent is >>> nubs.
Florida>>>>>>Nubs u dont have to leave the state to compete for titles in florida, with their top talent.

He was committed to UGA, but nobody actually believed he was coming. He wasn't going to sit behind Beck and have to battle with Stockton when he could walk in somewhere and be the starter on day one.

Can't argue with you here. They scapegoated Rhule and drafted a guy that was too short and inaccurate to play QB in the NFL. Loving watching that dumpster fire from afar.

The QB is Dominic Raiola's son. That's why he chose Nebraska.
Dominic was an All-American center with NU.

He's going to parlay his way to another job. Nebraska ain't what it used to be. However, he is a good coach.

And his uncle is on their coaching staff.
