It may be different now. It’s been awhile, but they had a folder with all the info in it. I just remember it wasn’t bad at all for just a call up. Probably more to it than that. Especially after the tech crash, 2008 crash and record low interest rates.

That’s a very painful injury. I have a friend who had this happen and he said it was the most painful thing he’s ever had and he wasn’t doing anything strenuous at all. It can happen to anyone at any time.

I heard Micky Mantle ate a punch from some hipster doofus at one of those back in the day.

It’s populated with Braves fans who remain salty over 1996 and 99.

It amazes me still that he’s around.

Hal was always a bean counter not a baseball guy and Cashman is a slippery little weasel.

I believe they changed the pension eligibility requirements in the last 15 years to the 43 day minimum.
I was under the impression that the health care benefits required the same, or I even recall hearing something about a player vote, but I can't find anything that refutes the day 1 eligibility. Maybe that got changed at the same time as the pension eligibility to account for a Tony Conigliaro situation.

Prior to 1980, MLB players needed four years of service to qualify for a pension. In 1980, an agreement between the MLB and MLBPA lowered the service requirement for pensions to 43 game days, but this change did not apply retroactively to players with service time before 1980. This means players who played before 1980, even if they had significant service time (but less than four years), were not eligible for the same pension benefits as those who qualified under the new rules
