Or, a disparity between the QBs' ability to win big games.

quote:Sure. But looking at the 4 guys from PRide's screenshots, I think it's safe to say that none of those 4 are affecting their defenses in such a positive way that is just wayyyyyyyy more positive than any of the other 4. I also think that's fair to say, right?
There is no such thing as individual work in football, can we be clear about that? You can always spin these things to fit whatever you want. Difference in weapons, difference in offensive line, defense changing game flows, etc...
So yea, you gotta take defense into account. And since they're not affecting defense any more than the next elite QB, it matters...a lot. And it's not surprising that the one guy who doesn't have the best numbers but does have the best defense has the most titles, that makes sense.

The hoops people will try to jump through to downplay numbers you put right in their face is just funny.

Who let Colin Cowherd in here...with the completely subjective and impossible to attribute to a specific player "ability to win big games"?
I don't have the numbers, but can tell you that in many of those Packer playoff losses, Rodgers drove the team down the field to tie or take the lead in the 4th quarter only to have the defense choke it right back.
As has been said, how about taking a look at the QBs numbers as a way to rank them? (Unless you want to rip on Rodgers for not being an All Pro d back and playing both ways).

Not surprising, agreed.
I guess I'm confused, it looks as though people believe Brees has better numbers than Brady?

So in the absence of getting as close to you can in terms of individual QB performance, your answer is to give the full benefit or criticism of W/L to the QB and QB alone?
Got it. Totally logical.

At the same time though, it doesn't change how I view those particular quarterbacks at all. You can't penalize Brees for NOT winning 5 Super Bowls with his defenses, but you definitely can't penalize Brady FOR winning them.
Lastly, with numbers that close, fair or not, the ties do go to the guys with wins.
Agreed. This is my take on it and most rational fans.

Lot of words that I never said

But, having seen those pictures of 10s of thousands of douchebag Boston bros, I have come around to Brady being the GOAT.
(Can you imagine the level of "bro", punchable faces, and horrific accents in that crowd? *Shudders*)

Wasn't too hard to distill down what you were driving toward.

You're posting pictures of something that made saints fans very ecstatic.
Try using your words if you can translate the Derp from your brain to your fingers.

It's 2 things IMO:
1. It's not so much that it's Brady is not the GOAT, but it's Brady is not the GOAT because of 5 titles. You can argue other reasons why he is, but stop with the 5 titles as the reason.
2. If we make it specific to Brees, I'd imagine the general sentiment is that Brady is a lot better than Brees, there's a wide gap between the 2. Again, that's only because of titles, as there really is not that wide of a gap. 99% will tell you Brady is better, but he's better by a little bit, not much.
