For players?

For teams, obviously.

For players, obviously not, right?

wins and losses are good for comparing coaches and GMs, not for players.

I mean shite, you can argue that Joe Thomas is the best player in the NFL but he may never play in a playoff game.

Because, what your defense gives up in points matters. What they give up in yards, not so much.

Total defense is shite

Not useless, but it's not on the same level as total defense. Hence, you know, "total" and all. What if your team has a shitty offense that always turns the ball over or leaves the defense in short field situations? I've been an expert on this since Tebow graduated.

Please tell me you think yards given up is a better stat than points....

I have never seen that argument made

So you've never seen total defense on NFL.com or ESPN?

"Total defense" is just yards given up......

Wait, what? I don't think "total" is quite all encompassing like you're making it out to be. It's measuring 1 thing, no more than scoring defense measures.

What if your defense gives up a good bit of yards but is great in the redzone and also leads the league in forced turnovers, so their scoring defense is elite AND they're giving the offense a short field more than every other defense? Their 16th ranked, average total defense tells you what?

Nevermind, now I know why you ignored total defense since it doesn't benefit Brady nearly as much as scoring defense.

I doubt it's easy to find, but points given up per drive is probably the best stat IMO, it's just not mainstream.

I know they have it on Pro Football Reference, but I think it's only for offenses?

This post reeks of "I figured out what total defense actually means so I better run away from that post"

Are you also insinuating if you do total defense, that Brady's teams will be worse than Manning or Brees?

Total defense is just yards per game

Please tell me you think that effects wins and losses more than points per game given up

You look like a fool. You didn't know what total defense meant

A. Total defense just means total yards, unless you've made up a new stat.

B. In a discussion of 4 all time great QBs, how can you possibly think the bolded section is an argument FOR the use of total yards defensive stat?

Yeah, sure thing, troll boy. It's at the top of the list on NFL.com and all, but okay.
