IF he's a better passer than Brady, is he not a better QB than Brady?
Because there is more to the position than just throwing the football.

Ya don't say, aint that some shite?
I know what you're trying to imply here but it's a dumb argument. Brady is in the Top 5 in every major passing statistic and will probably be in the Top 1-3 of every major stat before he's retired.
Joe Flacco will not.

Brady won in spite of his defense. The Falcons' second half collapse had more to do with play calling than with defense (Hightower's 4th quarter forced fumble being the notable exception).
The Falcons went into a protective shell once up 28-3 and the Patriots' defense barely saw the field in the second half due to three very long scoring drives that chewed up a ton of clock. So your "his defense only gave up 21" argument only works when you admit that Brady's clock chewing offense made it possible. The offense can't score when it's on the sideline for most of the half. This speaks once and for all to the greatness that is Tom Brady - the greatest QB to ever play the game.
Wait, what?
Did you watch the same super bowl?
If the falcons went into a "protective shell" then they would be super bowl champs right now. They were aggressive and stupid, and Atlanta's defense took advantage via turnovers and sacks.
As good as Brady was, that defense held them to 7 in the 2nd half and gave Brady the ball in great field position after the turnover.

Then why is Brady your GOAT, despite not playing the QB position as well as other QBs, according to the data and one of your own posts?
In my mind, Peyton Manning is the GOAT, but he will be surpassed but Aaron Rodgers down the line. It's a shame it took Aaron Rodgers so long to start. That's what happens when you sit behind a legend, though.

Because there is more to the position than just throwing the football.
And then Brady gets credit for having the GOAT coach and a great defense around him because clearly he's responsible for that?

Idk like I said I'm not going off of any stats. I'm just going off the it factor. I'm not saying Rodgers wouldn't have done the same thing but I'd say I would pick Brady over him in that situation. If for no other reason than I've seen him do it time and time again on the biggest stage imaginable. The guy has played in 7 super bowls and in all 7 he drove down the field late in the 4th to take the lead or tie the game. Even in the ones he lost

Which is just about the only good thing they did all game. Yes...I misspoke when I said they went into a protective shell with their play calling. I should have said "aggressively retarded", which they were. The Patriots' defense was barely on the field in the second half because the Patriots' offense had the ball for over 20 minutes.

don't need to look at numbers when I have eyes that can watch these guys play. Having watched all four of them play, Tom Brady is still tGOAT.
Saving this thread.

Don Shula wasn't a great coach? Interesting....
He's only the winningest coach in the history of the game.

I'm convinced that you now have a reading disability. Where in that text did I say anything about rings? Everything in that paragraph had to do with all-time career stats, which Brady currently stands in the Top 5 of almost every major passing statistic.

Score 28 in regulation while throwing a pick 6 is heroic and epic.
If you're not trolling, this is pretty crazy that you can't see how biased you are, saying NE's defense did only one good thing despite containing the best offense in the NFL.
quote:Every time they went out there they got off the field quickly, is that what you meant to say? If the Pats defense were giving up 12 play TD drives in the 2nd half, what would have happened, how would the game have ended?
The Patriots' defense was barely on the field in the second half because

Well that and because the Patriots defense held the Falcons to a 3 and out or better (turnover) on 4 drives in the 2nd half

They had 1 quarter where they gave up points.
4 of the last 6 drives were 3 and outs. They gave up 133 yards in the 2nd half in 6 drives with 85 coming on 1 of them.
The reason the Pat's were able to come back despite eating so much offensive clock was due to the Falcons offense not being able to stay on the field.
Crazy how that works both ways

All I'm gonna say is this. When Brady got the ball inside the 10 I had no doubt he was gonna find a way to score.

quote:Ok so not rings, but you think Brady is better despite not actually being better than, say, Rodgers. You can see how that would be confusing right? If it's not rings, what is it? It sure as hell isn't production/efficiency because Brady is clearly not as good as that , there quite simply is no argument that Brady plays QB better than Rodgers, so if it's not rings, it is what that makes him better than Rodgers?

uhh...
Want to know how many plays atlanta's offense had in the 2nd half?
6 drives, 27 total plays, for a total TOP 13:03

Brees never got much help during his time in NO. Those defenses wasted his career. Would have had at least 3 rings with a better supporting cast. Meanwhile the so called GOAT got afforded a top 7 score defense every title year due to the great Bill Belichick. Put Brees on that team and all 7 of them titles get brought home.
