This doesn't look like a lot of pressure for every kick:

Random thought to your gif that has no value to what you said is that he kicked off from the 40yard line in that gif. So he kicked it roughly 68ish yards.

It wasn't the distance. They said you can't kick in NFL because of NFL players trying to block it. But there are some situation where you can kick in the NFL with no one attempting to block you shot.

You also have to consider that they can’t just go at it. They have to kick it a steep enough angle to clear the massive players at the line of scrimmage. That would kill the distance on any amateur kicks.

If you watch the documentary Fastball, hitting a 100+ MPH fastball is basically impossible for humans.
We can't react fast enough from eye to brain, it's just a blur.
Which makes it more amazing that there are players who have hit these high heaters...sometimes it's just blind luck and swinging before the ball is even released...but still...
When you do things that are genuinely not considered humanly possible that's something.
Hitting a 60 yarder is humanly possible because we know a bunch of people have made longer in game situations and it just takes more leg strength...while hitting a 100 MPH fastball is physiologically almost impossible...one takes a special leg, the other takes a special brain.

I was the kicker for my middle school teams back in the day.

My point was if I was taking batting practice, I'd never get anywhere close to a 535 foot bomb that MLB players can jack out of the park.
You didn't get anywhere close to a 60yd FG either, so you're not making much of a point.

The fear is doing so under pressure, it’s not that crazy for a professional to kick a ball that far.

I made a 46 yarder and I've never been a kicker or taught how to kick properly. 14 yards extra is amazing? Eh.. I think there are many other feats much more impressive.

What amazes me more is that the Saints gave up 2 successful onside kicks yesterday. A statistical anomaly that confronts science itself.

They put Hydrogen in the footballs used for kicking. That's why there's No Smoking on the field and on the sidelines -- because Hydrogen is highly explosive.
You're thinking of helium.

quote:As a former kicker this isn't impossible to believe but can you do it 10 times in a row during live, full-go practice so coach actually has the confidence in you to let you kick it in-game? frick no you cannot, let alone actually make one in game.

My son got one attempt this year, 7th grade, from about 38 out. Missed it, but the coach was real positive about the contact. High stress though.

Inside a building without weather conditions factored in does take a little luster off the feat, however, but it's still quite an accomplishment nonetheless.

It's pretty awesome but these guys have been kicking FGs for years. It's all they do. Only a few have the leg strength and accuracy for 60+ yarder though. Jankowski made one at 70yds in practice. His 76yd attempt in a game fell short.
When I see a kicker miss an XP it tells me he missed on purpose because he could literally kick it with his eyes closed.

I believe fox said the ball velocity on the FG in the cowboys game was 73mph
