Unfortunately, Manfred sold his soul to Amazon and Apple TV. MLB Network often has a game.

They don’t want people who live in a market of a team to be a fan of that team. They want them to be a fan of an out of Market team.

Totally makes sense. So if I live in Texas I should be a marlins fan so I can catch every game without blackouts.

Couldn’t a VPN solve this?

Baseball fans pretty much just watch their local or favorite team. I watch LSU pretty much whenever they are on but I have no interest in watching any other college baseball game not involving LSU....none.

Kind of talking for yourself here. Texas and Texas A&M for example was great baseball. Plenty of people enjoy just watching good baseball.

MLBs blackout rules aren't really aimed at making fans attend the games in person or buy tickets. The blackouts exist to make you watch on that team's local broadcast. The Astros don't want fans in Texas, Louisiana, etc watching on MLB.TV when they can watch on the Space City Network (or whatever it's called) on TV because that hurts the TV numbers they use to sell advertising and devaules their product. The problem is that the TV situation for a lot of teams has changed so much recently, and the RSNs are going bankrupt, but MLB hasn't changed their policies to allow the blackouts to be lifted.

In Louisiana we always got the Astros on HSE or whatever it was. Crane took over and partnered with ATT and they started blackouts. I live around Lafayette and we don’t have access to SCHN without getting Fubo for an extra $100+ a month on top of our ridiculous cable bill. The Astros are losing fans and we’ve stopped our semi-annual trips to Houston to cheer for the Astros. Miss watching them.

I just don't see the issue. Don't buy the package if you don't want to watch the games? I struggled for years trying to get Ranger games without using stream east or using someone's bally sports login. Victory + let's met watch the stars for free and I can choose to spend $100 for the entire 160 games to watch the rangers.

It seems like the joke is on me because the rangers don't have a fricking offense this year

can watch all 82 stars games (minus national) on the same streaming service for free
You need espn plus which is 5.99 a month

The $100 baseball package is basically $14 a month

So for $14 a month you get 162 games and $6 a month you get 82 games

It uh, kinda checks out

I don’t need anything but the free app to watch about 75 of 82 stars games

It came with my cable package until recently. Pathetic how many of you are knighting for the subscription model

I’m not knighting for anything. MLB coverage is asinine and I’m in agreement with you there

But I love nhl and watch all the time and paying for ESPN+ is necessary

I get ESPN+ with my phone plan so I do use it, but it comes with NHL, college baseball, PGA Tour, college football, UFC, etc. for the same price as what it would cost me to watch one average baseball team

They black out the Rangers and Astros for everyone in Louisiana , just like MLB does.

We get the Rangers games here now in place of the Astros. I don’t know of any loyal Ranger people around here. Proves how ludicrous the blackout rules are. Dallas is way far away from here.

I bought it today. It’s 50% off for MLB tv. Was great. Got to watch the Yankees walk it off!

Every team should have their own subscription service no matter where you live. No blackouts. If I want to pay $9.99 per month to catch every game then I should be able to.

It’s total nonsense from the mlb. frick the local channels that broadcast the games. They need to develop a streaming service and get with the times.
