What is it about this subject that makes some people completely unable to have a reasonable discussion?

You are just being obtuse, or naive on the situation. When it comes to this subject, you are guilty until proven innocent in the court of law. It shouldn’t be, but it is.

Why don’t you tell me why you think he’s innocent. Because he says he is years later after he went undrafted?

The first thing you ask is prove he didn’t do it just strengthens that idea.

He pleaded guilty.

He literally stood in front of a judge and said he did it.

If you’re saying he didn’t, the burden of proof is on you.

Stop trying to act like some representive martyr male gender who is labeled guilty before innocent.

If you’re going to make a claim that goes against the evidence as presented and as pleaded, you need evidence to support it. That’s it, period. There’s no #metoo bullshite behind it. It’s simple logic.

You don’t think this couldn’t be coached? If not I can tell you’ve never worked with kids or parents who are looking for checks.

Something you take to avoid jail time when the case against you is pretty strong.

But no, this case was fabricated right?

I love how he is citing the #metoo movement when these allegations happened like 7-8 years ago

Yep the most logical, rational conclusion is that this was all fabricated and a 6 year old was coached into it.

Jesus, people.

He took a plea deal to avoid jail time. That is what the whole plea deal system has become. If the prosecutor really believed they had sufficient evidence to prove the defendant was 100% guilty, they’d never offer a DEAL. It happens every day. Deals are offered to convince defendants to take a safe, low risk option than the potential of a lifetime in jail.

If the case is strong against you, the prosecution won’t offer a plea deal. Why would they if they knew they would get a convinction?

Am I the only one that's annoyed that the Yahoo writer doesn't know the difference between China and Taiwan and which league is in which country?

4 year olds are not easy to coach and for their stories to remain consistent and professionals are trained to identify when that’s going on. I have worked on cases like this and just had a therapist make findings the child making very similar allegations was coached by her mother. One big difference, the alleged 15 year old perpetrator didn’t admit guilt and the police department didn’t buy the story either. The idiot judge did initially, however, until she received reports from CPS and the therapist. But that was in the civil case that was filed regarding a restraining order. Criminally, you need a lot more. Prosecutors don’t file moleststion charges against children liberally. If you think this was as simple as a 4 year old lying then there’s really no point in discussing this further with you.

They are easy to coach actually. Was there any signs of bed wetting or encropresis? That’s your first clue. Then you look for seclusion or depression. You also look for fear from some or attachment in others

And yes I have worked with sexual abuse cases had 2 this year in my class and one last year.

Unfortunately, yes. It’s not part of my everyday case load and I don’t envy the people that deal with these types of cases regularly. There are no winners.
