In his defense speaker of the house is a little better gig than club pro.

True, but does EVERYTHING have to be about driving revenue?

It’s expensive as shite to send your kids to LSU. There should be some perks and amenities for students.

I used to walk along the old course everyday. Always able to get free golfballs. Based on the news story the course had a deficit of about $30,000. That is not that much. They should be able to find ways to generate the additional revenue via greens fees and other means.

Additionally, public universities are not a for profit enterprise. I mean should they end some sports programs because they don't general revenue? The only sports that pay for itself at LSU are football and mens' basketball. Are they going to close the chemistry department at LSU because it does not generate enough revenue?

There was a course at La Tech we played back in the day, you could play all day for $2.00 with a student ID (we usually didn't pay because we knew the guys who worked at the pro shop).

I walked that thing at least a thousand times

Now it's a subdivision

For a University - yes.

LSU is actually reasonable. There are a ton of perks and amenities for the students, it just won't be a poorly managed golf course any longer. Who knows, maybe they put something in that even more students could enjoy, and not just the small % that would actually play the course?

I worked there during that time also. Maybe we knew each other! Great place to work and met a lot of great people.

Terrible idea to build a new arena. Lsu has awful facilities for the students. Focus on that.

How so? The dorms/apartments are much better than when I went there. There was no Rec center when I went there. Everything is better than it was 40+ years ago.

And I think that is part of the problem. Kids don’t go to college for the education. They go for the lifestyle.

It sure was. It was great getting off of work and heading out to play a round with co-workers. When I started working there in the summer of '92 someone told me I would improve my game by 10 strokes. They were correct.

Back 9 was awesome. #10 dogleg left, #13 long par 5 with water near the green, #14 dogleg right with the silo and cows with holes in their stomachs, and 16, 17, & 18 were all really challenging.

We used to go into the ponds at night and get golf balls, not sure I'd be up to that these days.

100%. Really great holes on the back. When I got long enough to cut the corners on 10 and 14, it was a good risk reward tee ball.
