If he said he thought ND was going to be more physical and win the game, no one gives a shite.
When he is calling out Day personally, listing off his 6 total loses, and saying he coaches a soft team, that crosses a line if you say it repeatedly on national TV.
Good god man. Have some self respect.

That iteration of college football final was one of the greatest sports shows ever put on TV. It was the perfect capstone to a college football Saturday. It's too bad it made Rece Davis a household name and got him promoted to gameday, though.

Just taking a page out of the UGA playbook. Find the biggest name out there that "doubts your team" and latch on to say see we're the underdogs, no one thinks we can win.

Why is the Head Coach of Ohio State watching clips from critics and getting his feelings so hurt?

Are you guys really so insecure
Yes, bigly. tOSU fans are comically insecure, Day is a perfect representation of them. "It's always been Ohio vs the world"

You weirdos have pushed hard on conference pride because you're so insecure about being thought of as losers.

My thoughts on this are he didn't need to name Holtz at all. Holtz isn't the only one who made the comments. They were made before the season started in 2022.
However, Holtz is a friend of the OSU program, as he coached there for Woody.
also, his comments weren't even accurate. Was OSU not physical enough against UGA last year or Clemson 2019? That's absurd as they weren't blown off the ball during the game. Hell even Michigan last year OSU dominated the LOS for much of the game.
It's something that one Michigan player said in 2021 and then has built up over the last 2 years. Day was letting his emotions out over the entire issue. Didn't need to call anyone out, just make his point that his team played tough

Not all Ohio State fans...i actually agree with what Holtz said...and winning on Saturday in the fashion Ohio St won, doesn't change that fact. The FACT remains that Ryan Day up to this point, is more in line with John Cooper than he is with Jim Tressel or Urban Meyer. He doesn't recruit Ohio kids, he doesn't "get" the Ohio State vs TTUN rivalry...and that's why he lashed out the way he did, because he was feeling the heat from the fan base...and rightfully so!! This outcome of the ND game doesn't change that face or my opinion of his coaching ability. IMHO Notre Dame is going to lose to Duke this weekend...and then what Ryan Day?? Is he an above average coach...ABSOLUTELY...is he a great coach...jury is still out.
I think THIS is what got under Day's skin...and proves that Day still has plenty of room to grow as a coach. Holtz is from Ohio, coached at Ohio State...I don't think what Holtz said was out of line...period.

I think what we've learned over the last week or so, is that coaches and players listen to the media more than we think, and are more easily triggered than we think.
Just this past wknd we had 3 head coaches of top 25 teams (Oregon, Ohio St. Wazzu) go on rants about the media or media personalities after their games.

I agree with this. Notre Dame should’ve been up 14-3 at halftime but they fricked up whenever they got past the 50.
Notre Dame seemed like the better team the entire game except for the first 10 minutes in the 3rd
Edit: After examining the play log I would like to retract my statements. I do think Notre Dame still seemed better.
played well enough to win the game for sure, but osu had it's own screw-ups. gonna be 2025 at the earliest before we can field a team this good. have to break in a lot of unexperienced players at starting positons next year.
feels like having hartman is a waste if we don't win 11 games. still have to play sc and clemson. both are winnable, but i think we really needed to beat osu. can't overlook anyone, specifically duke.

This is an absurd take. Day takes more Ohio kids than Urban ever did.
He lashed out because it's an absurd statement and not true.
Day has lost 2 games 1 time in the regular season and has never won less than 10. Day has been OSU's coach 5 years. Cooper Didn't win 10 games in any of his first 5 seasons.
This is just an absurd take which is why OSU fans are insane.

Well I bet Lou Holtz wouldn't have had 10 men on the field on the final play and twice on the final drive.
A lot easier to knock it over the goal line when the defense doesn't have a right DE on the field.

Holtz is a domer homer. That’s not surprising
I don’t think Ohio state is great either, but being beat by a not great football team because your coaching is lacking isn’t exactly a feather in your cap.
