Perhaps the worst commissioner I have ever seen, or even heard of.

What the frick has this guy done?

The Big 12 solidified itself by adding some solid G5 schools. While not ideal, it did show stability and it paid off with a better than expected TV deal.

It's been nearly a year since USC and UCLA announced they were leaving and Kliavkoff hasn't done shite. No additions, no TV deal, no buzz. Nothing.

The Pac 12 is down to 10 teams and may lose more. There is no reason - NONE - that he shouldn't have added some teams. There are no homeruns left in the expansion game for the Pac 12, but a couple of singles would be better than nothing.

First, it's a fricking travesty that BYU did not get added to the Pac 12 years ago. I know that was before Kliavkoff's time, but they are paying the price now for their elitism and religious bigotry.

He should add San Diego State, Boise State, SMU and UNLV right fricking now (and maybe Fresno). Announce the Pac 12 conference championship would rotate around major Pac 12 cities, including Vegas and Dallas, add Gonzaga and St. Mary's for basketball only.

There are other things he can do as well, but just do something. What a failure.

The biggest mistake he made is assuming the PAC's athletics are worth more than they are because the conference has some good academic brands. Unfortunately for him, people still have to actually watch the sports and show up for games to drive value. So he is a continuation of his predecessors in that regard. His second biggest mistake was letting the Big 12 beat the PAC to the punch by putting a deal together first and securing their position for the next decade. Credit to the Big 12, that conference was basically left for dead after Texas and OU announced they were leaving, and here they are as the third strongest conference in the land.

Kliavkoff isn’t good, but Larry Scott is responsible for starting the slide of the PAC-12.

What school would want to move to the Pac-12 at this time? Who could they have added?

Those schools you list are better off staying where they are because they know the Pac-12 is imploding...especially SMU...

Whom could they have added a few years ago that would have been acceptable and grew the pie?

Yep. The PAC should’ve added OU and Texas when it had the chance. Its geographic isolation was a blessing until the B1G stopped caring about geography and stole the PAC’s Crown Jewels. There are no realistic expansion targets that would fix the PAC now. There simply aren’t enough attractive athletic programs out west. And nobody is leaving a stable conference to join a conference that is poised to lose more members any day now.

USC and UCLA playing the B1G and having them travel to Rutgers/Maryland for a conference game will be so weird to watch.

This. I hate this new landscape. College sports should be regional, and greed has killed everything that was special about it.

They have multiple sports that the Big Ten does not participate in, they were counting on games in the west coast.

Some of these sports like water polo and mens volleyball are in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, not the Pac-12.

I think the only outlier will be Beach Volleyball

Most of the realignments have been dumb from a fan standpoint, killed rivalries or created cross country alignments.

I just hope the superconferences are so unwieldy that they align into divisions that perfectly mirror the old conferences.

Yep, who would've thought hiring the former commissioner of woman's tennis to run a major conference built around men's sports could go wrong.
But hey, at least he secured a crap TV deal so we could watch regional women's sports games or whatever.

The message board/Twitter rumors claim that the B1G doesn't want to strike the killing blow to the PAC by taking OU/Washington. They are playing hurry up and wait to see if other PAC schools voluntarily leave first. Frankly, that makes no sense to me because the B1G effectively killed the PAC by taking both LA schools. But I guess we'll see what happens. Regardless, the PAC is and has been fricked

No dude. We definitely didn't do that. Colorado is blowing up the Pac 12, the B1G sniping the two crown jewels of the conference has nothing to do with that.

Larry was a pro of grifting money, not paying vendors, and enriching his cronies.

Flying from Norman, OK, to Florida or South Carolina has nothing on going from Los Angeles or Seattle to Newark, NJ, or College Park, MD, for a midweek trip.

You got that right. Anything approaching 6 hours of flight time is miserable. Once you hit 4 hours each additional minute is double the agony. Especially flying domestic.

It's possible that the B1G expands their conference sports.

Penn State and Ohio State have Men's Volleyball at that game is growing rapidly.

I think 9 B1G teams have men's water polo.

BYU is toxic....to the elite...Academia. They were never going to add BYU, which is why I always laughed when people on here suggested it just because of proximity.

Its not religion. Stanford and Cal have issues with their history, not a research institution and viewed by them as a cult school. (I mean 5 required courses at BYU are on the teachings of Joseph Smith and his revelations) and they just added problems. PAC also didn't want to share the Polynesian/Somoa players who are huge LDS...but preferred Cali.

I said the PAC would dissolve before adding BYU, looks like that's happening.

if they can actually pull off a heist of the four corner schools, then the Big 12 is the third best football conference top to bottom. The PAC would be entirely gutted and the ACC is buoyed by FSU and Clemson. And we all know how badly those two schools want to get the hell out of the ACC. If and when they leave, the ACC will be a rudderless mess. A poor man’s Ivy League.

The ACC could just about do that right now:

Big East Division:
VT
BC
Syracuse
Pitt
Miami
Louisville
Add in West Virginia
Add in ND for all sports

ACC Division:
GT
Clemson
FSU
UVA
UNC
Wake
NC State
Duke
