those were classic.....looked forward to listening to those. when those came on the air, you could feel the games getting closer and closer.

I remember the Curley Shuffle played at the intro. Hallman was our leader and was going to lead the Tigers to great things.

Dick Walcott gave a Notre Dame - MIchigan State basketball score as 3 - 2 and laughed. I called him during the commerical and told him that wa Hockey score. he corrected himself on the air. Such was BR in the 70's.

Wasn't it him that used to do those bits with snippets of songs cut into "interviews" about the upcomming Tiger games to answer the questions?

Coach Brewer, where do you find your players at Ole Miss?
Cue John Cougar Mellencamp song.... "sucking on a chili dog outside the Tastee Freeze"

Who was the sportscacter who asked the LSU football coach how it felt to be canned and the guy didn't even know yet that he lost his job. I think that the coach was Stoval.

Down through the years the one that pops into my head first as being very annoying and irritating is Bill "Mr.Giggle" Wagy. (Mid-Late 80's on one of the BR radio stations) This clown tried to make a joke out of just about everything he reported on and had this annoying little repetitive giggle that was part of the package...

I posted in that thread. Just read the entire thread, good times. I think the response is obvious, the Fastest Hour should start doing the new and updated Tiger Tracks.

Sometime in the late 70's Buddy D came to my house for a New Year's Day football party. He wasn't in the house 5 minutes when he asked if he could use the phone, I showed him the one in the bedroom where it was quiet. He spent the whole afternoon in there placing bets, likely taking bets, I guess on horse races. Someone brought him a plate of food after a while, but he came out beaming after 3 hours, I guess the pony won, had a drink and left. But he was very funny to talk to, if you could get him away from the phone.

A bunch of us were getting ready to watch the Hockey Game. This was before the internet, so nobody knew the score.

At 6:59:55 pm, Leopold says "U S Hockey team shocks Soviets, details at 10". The next voice we hear is Jim McKay.

He got suspended for it. He kept saying it was his journalistic obligation. Dude sort of faded away after that. No one liked him.

Nobody here loves the Minnis guy from WAFB Channel 9 in the early 90'? He sounded a bit like Kermit the Frog.

Bill Wagy (is that how it's spelled?) I forgot about him. I liked him. I remember one time Jim Hawthorne was sick or had laringitis or something and he had to fill in doing pbp for a basketball game. He didn't do so great. I think that was around '85 or 86. I liked him way better than I like this Kevin Ford kid. He has one of the most annoying voices for radio and is completely personalityless.

the fact that buddy d had so many listeners.. proves a lot of new orlean's stereo types...

I loved it back when Mike Foster was governor..and he was bashing Mike for being at his duck camp rather than pushing to work a deal with benson....

I talked with buddy that week.. I asked him.. buddy you do know that more duck hunters put their money where their mouths are than saints fans.... he went off on a tangen.. BS how can you prove that.. I said real easy....

Saints had 34 k season ticket holder last year.. La sold 175K duck stamps last year........If I am governor.. I am making the duck hunters happy not saints fans...
