I was watching the ASH stream, and their announcers were convinced that should have been an automatic touchback. I'm not an LHSAA rule expert though.

I was thinking that too.
IDK if the refs thought the ASH receiver caught the KO in the field of play and stepped back into the end zone and proceeded to run the ball.
It looked like the ASH receiver fielded the KO in the field of play which made it a live ball.
IDK what the rule is though.

Bruh. Why lie? It was literally a tunnel screen that was caught behind the LOS. I can send you the film.
ETA: Rewatched the play. Trez caught it 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Blockers can be 90 yards downfield and it’s perfectly legal.

Ball has to cross the line, if it is in the field of play and his foot is in it is not a touchback.
