It's still a little jarring to see Captain Shreve up there. They were irrelevant for a couple of generations.

ASH too. Ellick has good basketball and baseball, but has never been known as a football hotbed.

Still the last Shreveport public school to win state.

At the moment? Miracle 4th down to escape Ruston at home would have them about right if not a bit high honestly. If they beat WM next week I'm sure they'll go up.

They better not be thinking about WM just yet. They still have a pretty good opponent tonight.

Offensively yes. How good is STM's defense?

And what a team it was!

A quarterback that had 35 TDs throwing to two recievers that combined for 2000 yds. Throw in a 1000 yd rusher and a defense that allowed 15 pts total in 10 regular season games.

Would have payed shameful money to have watched a matchup between '73 CS and '75 St Augustine.

Why does Grace King even bother to field a team?

JJ is right
QB is not good enough for Neville to win State this season. RB is good enough. Neville was lucky to beat Ruston and did you see Ouachita/Neville first half when Neville couldn't score in three consecutive possessions even with starting each one in the Ouachita half? Neville is actually overrated in my opinion. Jena is not good. Ouachita is not good. Ruston is good, but Neville got lucky.

Because East Jeff proved it could be done at a public school in Metairie

You could say that about a lot of teams: Broadmoor, Morgan City, North Central, whatever Grambling Lab calls itself now.

Because they have enough kids who enjoy playing high school football

They’ve been soft this season against top notch teams but shutout Plaquemine last week in a 63-0 blowout. The coaches said the defense had the best week of practice this week of the whole season.

I haven't seen Catholic BR play, but are they potentially the GOAT when it comes to the all time history of Louisiana HS football?

Could they beat the West Monroe/Evangel teams of long ago?

I see STM is 20th. Is that right? Are they being penalized because they have 2 losses, even though the losses where to 2 of the top teams in the state? Are they not favored to win the state title in their division this year?
