49-42 Catholic. 2:20 left

Outstanding job by the Ponchatoula coaches tonight. Came out and threw the ball which WM didn't anticipate. Built a big lead and then converted a fake punt to win the game. Ballsy, but great call. Ponchatoula laid it all on the line and pulled off the upset. Tip of the cap.

They didn't score after the fake though did they? What happened on the WM turnover?

Catholic may have got some redemption.. Stopped 2 pt conversion with .15 left ... 49-48

Just dropped it. Refs wouldn't change out balls. One ball per possession. It was wet, he never got a good grip. shite happens.
Pass interference and fake punt ran off extra 4 minutes. Maybe WM doesn't rush at end, maybe they still don't convert. If was a great job by Ponchatoula's staff and kids.

JJ27, is right. The fumble was the nail in the coffin but the fake punt was a huge momentum changer.
Pontchatoula, played a great game and made a couple xtra big plays.

The fake definitely killed the second half momentum that WM had going. I think the turnover gave us confidence and a boost and put doubt in the mind of WM. It was a great game, I am just glad we didn't win on a fluke our boys earned it. Ya'll have a safe trip home.

Dayyyyummmmmmmm think I will eat some crow for saying Ponchatoula had no chance...
Now 5a is a mess... no more Byrd, no more Scotlandville, no more Acadiana
Think we'll have Hahnville Destrehan and Ehret Landry-Walker semifinals...
Oh and earlier in this thread I called West St. John
And on sports line I called Bogalusa

Wouldn't be a WM loss if the refs weren't involved. I went back watch and record the replay of the game, can post the video if you'd like. The refs switched the balls out 1 play before the fumble on that incomplete pass to the sideline. Plus they were wiping the ball down after just about every play. So there goes that excuse.

Pass interference call was at 6:03, WM took over with 4:44 that's not close to 4 minutes. There goes excuse #2.

Wow, you're really searching to call that an excuse. Every post I said Ponchatoula flat out beat WM. Great job by their coaches and kids. They earned that win.

But the balls were wet and the refs weren't changing them out, DIDN'T HAPPEN and that pass interference call ran a whole 4 minutes off the clock that WM could have used, DIDN'T HAPPEN. It's a back handed compliment you were giving, Ponchatoula played great BUT...
That was a good game WM made some good adjustments in the second half, BUT #6 look like he was running half the speed he was in the first half. He doesn't cramp up Ponchy likely completes a few more of those deep throws, and he doesn't quit on one of those balls that WM picked.

The ball was fumbled before he even had possession. He never had it. WM was completely out coached.

I actually said the pass interference and the fake punt, which I also said was a great call. You're reaching for a reason to be offended and you're not even a fan of either team.

Ponchatoula's defense dominated the line of scrimmage as well. Everyone involved in that program did a fantastic job tonight. All class before, during, and after the game from every single person representing Ponchatoula that I met. Players and coaches were consoling Bolden after the game. Everyone told us great game and wished us safe trip home. Very impressed with that community. Good luck the rest of the year.

Correct

The jambalya was on point also.
I have to agree with other posters who questioned why WM abandoned run so early. First two drives stalled and they went pass. Second half adjustments were made and they dominated, then they went pass heavy again because of time running out and it cost them.
Ponchy really needs to make something out of the upset and play well against Ehret

I should have grabbed some. I was offered twice while walking out but was consoling a kid.

Just for fun, the handshake between ponchys center who goes 360 and 74 for WM who goes 400 might have been most combined weight in handshake in LHSAA history
Posted on 11/21/15 at 3:30 am to ToulatownTiger
If they would have made it to the jambalaya first, we wouldn't have been offered any.

I'm not offended, didn't make a difference to me who won or loss or how any of you felt about it.
I wouldn't have said anything if I didn't watch the game. I was just pointing out that what you said was wrong. Between the pass interference/fake punt and when WM took over only 1:19 ran off the clock not 4 minutes like you said.
After the incomplete pass 1 play before the fumble the refs switched out the ball out. They didn't have to play with a wet ball because the refs were only allowing 1 ball per possession like you claimed.
