LHSAA - Basketball Brackets released - Some have 2 byes

Brackets are released. Some teams have 2 byes and won't play until 3/2. There has to be a better way.

I didn't see any brackets with 2 byes, just some that don't play a round of 32 and a lazy website manager that didn't want to make a new bracket for that division.

Maybe "byes" are not the best way to describe them, but there are several teams that are not playing until the 3rd date for basketball playoffs. I am assuming that is so all the "State Championships" can be played the same weekend and end at the same time. Having 13-15 days off before starting the playoffs just does not seem to make any sense.

St. Paul doesn’t play in the round of 32 or 16. That seems like two byes to me. There is even a bye versus bye designation in the “round of 32”. This is garbage. Combine some divisions.

No one is playing in the round of 32
It was a lazy website administrator that didn't feel like creating a new bracket. 13 teams made the playoffs, meaning the top three teams get a bye in the first round. This isn't rocket surgery to figure out.

There is no such thing as a bye when no one plays in the round. That’s like saying the Saints got 20 byes and the Vikings got 21

There might be districts that are mixed with select and non-select schools that’s why.
Seriously though, the madness needs to end, LA high school sports have been ruined with this split. Can you really justify winning a championship when every team makes it in the playoffs. What’s the point of playing the regular season

Saw a former player of mine Saturday who now plays for STM. They’re pretty bummed that they’ll play a cupcake and then be in the Top 28. It cheats the kids from the full experience of legit competition, and they know it.

There is a better way. It's this crazy idea where in a state our size you name one champion per class and get after it!
Think about this: we had to divide classes to make it more fair. Then we had to create a new 5a class to make it more fair. Now we've divided everything into 12 championship brackets to make it more fair??

When did this all start? I went to class B school and it was always 5A-C. Of course that was early 90s.

We were more excited to beat Ellender in Houma to go to the Top 28 than we were when we beat Peabody to go to the Finals
