Lettuce discuss Dyson Daniels

The Great Barrier Thief improved his résumé for Defensive Player of the Year with a last second steal tonight leading to a buzzerbeater layup
He now sits at 170 steals this season, which is already more than any player in the last 8 years, and with 21 games left he is on pace to finish at 234.
This would be the most steals in a season by any player since John Stockton in 1991, and Daniels has missed 5 games due to injury.
Of course, he will not win DPOY, as this award is never given to guards anymore and the Hawks overall team defense is poor, but let’s give it up for Dyson, who is truly having a special season

How many steals at home vs on the road?

2 things are true:
1. Dyson is an elite defender and will have a great career
2. Most Pelicans talk posters are fricking retarded

97 vs 73
The biased stat keeper thing is not really an issue anymore, if that’s what you’re implying. The NBA overhauled their stat keeping system so it’s neutral parties doing it.
In 1983 the block disparity between home and road teams was +1102. Last season it was +61.
If anything, it makes what Daniels doing even more impressive as most of the guys ahead of him definitely benefited from the home cooking of the old NBA

Stockton is the all time leader in both assists and steals by a lot in both categories, yet is somehow underrated.

Trae Young has all this help and he still sucks

It hurts seeing so Dyson do so well for another franchise. I thought he should have been untouchable when the Dejounte deal went down. Everyone thought we fleeced them though, although Dejounte is a good player, just a very unfortunate injury for him.

I’m happy to see Daniel’s succeed he seemed like a great guy who was young and still trying to find his way when he was a pelican. Defense was never a doubt either him, his offense struggled but he’s averaging 14 points a game. That’s just icing on the cake.

Basketball isn't for you.

That’s still a pretty big difference, but to refute your statement on lack of bias, wasn’t there a guy that was in the running for DPOY just last season, or two ago that had like 2/3 of his defensive stats at home? Memphis guy maybe?

I have Mr. Daniels for O9.5 RA tonight.

That pass was perfect as well btw and not an easy one. It opened the Levert move as he caught that in stride.

I clicked on this thread to see who he was and what sport he played. Thought maybe he was a new running back for Georgia, which would have been more interesting.

Bumping this thread, as Dyson has recorded the following steal numbers in recent games:

That brings him to 191 on the year, which is the most since Chris Paul’s 2008 season, with 14 games left in the season.
Next milestones:
218 - Most by any player since 2002
226 - Most by any player since 1995
244 - Top 10 all time

Hated to see him go. It was a good trade for the Pels, I wouldn't say fleece, but like you say, just unfortunate injury for DM.
Glad he's doing well and he 100% would not be doing this good in NOLA under Willie. He'd be buried on the bench.

Literally nobody outside of a portion of the Pelicans fanbase thinks ATL lost that trade
