There's some serious shite going on in HK involving legit issues w/freedom, but don't forget about us, guys.

No matter what is going on, it is always all about him.

“Enes Kanter has been detained due to his passport being revoked by Turkey.”

“Won’t you PLEASE think of how this affects me? This is going to cost me endorsement deals in Turkey!”

Lebron fancies himself Muhammad Ali or MLK, a voice for the repressed and oppressed. Except he’s never been oppressed his entire life.

Do you think if he was 5’ 9” and of average athletic ability he’d have gone to St. Mary’s? Would he be an almost billionaire?

I’m not saying he hasn’t worked his arse off to be one of the greatest basketball players and athlete ever, but he’s never been oppressed

LeBron is dumber than a box of rocks. I would be shocked if he even knows how to read.

In America many people equate being poor as being "oppressed".

Not surprising an Obama/Hillary fanatic is in here talking up for Chi-Coms and fake NBA SJWs

I've not been a fan of plenty of LeBron's sociopolitical takes, but if he'd come out as strongly against injustices in China as those issues he perceives as injustices here, I'd have been the first to tip my cap to him as indeed a man of his word from a consistency of message standpoint.

This spinelessness is just a crying shame.

I don’t think anyone believes that’s what he meant, though

This was his quote-

quote:

I believe he wasn’t educated on the situation at hand, and he spoke,” James said, referring to Morey. “So many people could have been harmed, not only financially, but physically, emotionally, spiritually.”

That's the original quote.

James is a hypocrite for being measured here solely due to his financial impacts. He's a sellout.

He wasn't calling Morey uneducated about the HK situation IMO.

Using “uneducated” is a loaded term and one which targets LeBron and other players (Hi, Kyrie!) because they are barely literate and are lucky they get paid to put a ball through a hoop.

I think Dave Portnoy of all people summed it up best:

“Hey guys I know that there are crimes against humanity in Hong Kong BUT the timing of Daryl Morey’s tweet was a pain in my arse. So rude and inconsiderate”.

Yeah I've seen both him and Kaep equated with modern-day versions of Ali/MLK. Just a ridiculous comparison that both places too much weight upon the shoulders of the former, and cheapens the societal impact of the latter.

He's a living example of the opportunity afforded to everyone in this country if they work hard enough to maximize their God-given abilities. I believe he's the best individual basketball player to have played in the NBA.

People have this urgent need to heap more responsibility on him as a spokesman than he really needs, and to his credit, he's tried to rise to the occasion in his own way. He's just not well equipped in this particular arena. No shame in that, but he has to be self-aware enough to realize that and resist those pressing him beyond his acumen.

No doubt. The drama about his tough week is fricking laughable. He's always been a drama queen.

Like you said, you can gain respect for having a real opinion on this matter, but he doesn't. Criticism of China would be genuinely brave from a financial standpoint, but he went the other direction. His opinions going forward are worthless.

How do you figure that when LeBron said:

quote:

I believe he wasn’t educated on the situation at hand, and he spoke,”
What “situation at hand” was LeBron referencing if not the situation in Hong Kong?

Yeah uneducated and uninformed, in this context prove, once again, that LeBron is uneducated with respect to the English language.

As others have pointed out, he should have said inconsiderate. It still would have been an absurd take, but at least it would be truthful.

To be honest, he's probably right, but once again, you simply cannot have this take if you're LeBron. He's a sellout, plain and simple.

The ONLY thing correct in that statement is the financial aspect. You wanna talk physical or spiritual? How about the million+ Muslim minorities locked up in concentration camps due to their spiritual beliefs? If you wanna talk real physical and spiritual consequences these are the ones to talk about. Not some fricking NBA diva being inconvenienced having to answer a question

Several of those are just empty words...mental, spiritual well being. It's like saying pain and suffering. He's just adding words to the main two.

If he was truly worried about their physical safety...why not address WHY they would be in harm's way? Likewise, why not be explicit when talking about financial regards?

But I ask again...what specifically did he mean by uneducated? That reeks of being told Morey was wrong, by "someone," about his take, and would think differently were he better educated on the subject of China/HK.
