I think it’s safe to say he could have a better legacy with less finals appearances yes. If there was a worthy opponent rival in the east that he had beaten to get to the finals more times than not but also lost a series to that team and had one less finals appearance. Better overall look for him. The weakness of the east hurts Lebron badly. And then once he gets out the east he takes Ls.

I read ya, it's like the logic for Joe Montana in being 4-0 in Super Bowls because he played most of his career in the 1980s NFC which was by far the dominant conference in the NFL at the time, think about it, LT's Giants, Gibbs' Redskins, Reggie and Jerome's Eagles, Ditka's Bears among others comprised that conference it was quite literally a Murderers' Row to make the Super Bowl then. Tom Brady's played in the AFC Least all his career, those opponents suck to high heaven. Same with Bird only going to 5 Finals in the 1980s despite being the best player in the league that decade and playing in the Beastern Conference, Doc's Sixers, Jordan's Bulls, Isiah's Pistons, the Bucks, Nique's Hawks, Lenny's Cavs, Pitino's Knicks with Jackson, Ewing, Wilkins and Vandeweghe, etc. However, 8 Finals appearances in 14 seasons ain't nothing to sneeze at and he's won 3 and should have 4 had he not choked against Dallas winning multiple rings against the West counts towards his argument.

What is credit?

Jeter gets credit. Jeter looked good. Jeter had awesome storylines.

And now he's overrated because casual fans like yourself think he was better than he was.

I love when LBJ loses. There is 5 or more topics on this board.
When he went off for 46 the other night.
There was ZERO mentions of his game. ....
It's because the board and world has accepted him as GOAT. When he GOATs it's just normal. Even in year 15.

When he doesn't win, a few losers try to relive their glory days and troll a bit.

I see the OP is unfamiliar with Orgeron fans on the Rant.

If Lebron makes everyone around him much better, why does his team lose so many finals? Didn’t Jordan make his teammates better? If MJ didn’t make his teammates better, how did he win all those titles?

Jordan had better teammates. Before Pippen showed up, guess what? He got his shite pushed in by Detroit.

he lost K-Love and Kyrie before he went up 2-1 against a 67-win Warriors team. That's how incredible he was in that series.

You get more credit for beating great teams than for beating trash teams.

He beat one all time great & another very, very good team in the finals though

no Lake, The warriors team that he beat was a shell of the team that won 70 games. Come on bro. 3 of their top 6 was banged up badly and green missed the game 5. That version of GSW doesn’t even win 60.

I can’t imagine someone caring about Lebron as much as some people do.

Its bizarre actually

Hes an overgrown teenager who makes his living playing. Love or hate him, why waste your time caring?

Lebron got owned by Dirk Norwitzki, averaging 17 pts (8 pts In game 4..lol) in the finals that year. Jordan never score less than 22 pts in any finals game. Does MJ look like someone who would get owned by Dirk Norwitzki?

This series is because Carlisle kicked Spoelstra’s arse in coaching. The Heat had relatively no 3 pt shooting and the fact Wade never expanded his game killed the Heat from winning more. The way Carlisle packed the paint with Tyson Chandler won that series easily. In addition you couldn’t even play that defense back in the day.

Carlisle was the true MVP that series.

I told everyone in 2011 that people would not forget Lebron getting owned by Dirk in the Finals. It was hilariously awful.

The fact is that Lebron is a Ray Allen three and a Steph Curry ankle injury away from being 1-7 in the Finals.

To be fair, there are tons of these cases throughout NBA Finals history that could've changed ultimate outcomes and consequently NBA players' championship legacies just have to assess them for the outcomes that they were and not use them to unfairly minimize

So does a lot of this board, and they let that cloud their judgment of him a basketball player.

Jordan was widely regarded as a mega prick, but that seems to be disregarded.

To answer the OP, I can name five Finals opponents that LeBron has played that were better than anyone Jordan faced in the Finals.

If Byron Scott and James Worthy don't get injured for the rest of that series, who knows if that Bulls team ultimately wins the 1991 Finals, they struggled just to win game 3 and 5 at the Forum
