Just think if the organizers wanted to be really mean one year
Have the Tourmalet, Ventoux, and Alp D'Huez in same tour but here is where the viciousness starts....
Have an ITT up either the Tourmalet or Alp D'Huez and make it a TTT up Ventoux. Then for all funsies have the Velodrome in Marseilles be a finish like they did I think in 17 or 18....
Then for just to have some zaniness to it make the start of the Tour be like when they started in London, but have it in Versailles to basically start and end in Paris. Why not make it just a brutal tour just once.

How is Van Aert allowed to wear a Red Bull helmet but nobody else has any type of advertising except the manufacturer of the helmet?
I'm guessing a part of the money paid by Red Bull is going to the team.

Phil and Bob have to go. Heard Phil call Phillpsen by the first name Jakob. Just one of his daily blunders. And they talk minimal tactics. Get some fresh, new blood in there who follow the sport more than a month a year.
Fabio Philipsen
Jasper Jakobsen
Art van Wooten
Paul van der Mathieu
All favorites of mine

That's awesome. How many stages are you there for?

As soon as he referred to Mathieu Burgaudeau as Alaphilippe on stage 1 I said nah fam I am out. I got a VPN and loaded up GCN. Phil calls zero races all year and then they roll this weekend at Bernie's impersonator out to call the MOST IMPORTANT RACE OF THE YEAR. Jesus Christ it makes me angry.

Is it just me or has Liggett just got more senile over the last 2 days? I swear he is just spouting stuff off that makes no sense or relevance to the coverage.
IMO Phil has always been this way, Paul often kept him in check when he went far afield or made a factual error. Bobke is OK (better in a guest appearance Roll
Good job Jasper on the win, I still think WVA got pinched but in the curve it wasn't bad enough to relegate IMO. Cav was out of position and never seemed to quit get his top end if indeed he still has it. Another sprinters day tomorrow the Cat 4 near the end may help WVA if the pace is high.
Not that anyone cares but I am wiped from yesterday. Came in 21st of our 23 riders, beat the other Masters sprinter by 100 yards, and "beat" one of the kids who had a mech.
My kids did well all three of our climbers finished in under 6:20, even our sprinter finished under 6:40. I pedaled squares the last 10 miles and finished in 7:22. Getting old sux. I should mention age is really a number because my good friend Randy Warren posted the best time in the 2023 Assualt 5:40 and he is 61, 5 years older than me.
For the guys watching the tour but not riding, just do it. If your bike is hanging in the garage with flat tires, get it down and get it rolling. If you haven't had a bike in forever get one. You will likely find the same joy you had as a kid. For those Zwifting 99% of the time, get out on the road, take the computer off your bike, and just ride.

It has more to do with the relationship between Redbull and the Jumbo supermarket chain.

Being here and seeing what goes on starting several hours before riders come through you realize what a marketing/advertising enterprise the TdF is. Everything is to make a euro, not unlike American sports. So I'm guessing Red Bull is spreading money around to all the principals to have their logo on a big name rider.

Was here for stage 2 and 3 so that's it for me. Our days here just luckily corresponded with the Tour being here. I always look at where the tour is when we are in Europe but we had booked our lodging here back in early January when I looked at the tour schedule and it miraculously was when we were here. I saw the prologue stage in Rotterdam in 2010 which was by far the most fun. It was a huge party for several hours while riders came by every 2 minutes. Yesterday when they finished in San Sebastian was fun but a quick flash of riders coming by. Today they just passed through San Sebastian and it was more subdued although 20 minutes before riders came through crowds suddenly appeared to watch and the just as quickly disappeared.

I care for sure! Was lookin for an update.
Getting old DOES suck but jealous that you are still at the level you are at and you are a bit over a decade older than myself. Went hard 4-5 years ago physically and monetarily then burned out quickly and now I regret burning myself out.
Cycling is a fickle bitch for casuals like myself. Ready to get back in the saddle for health and for fun. Your timepiece game is out of control way beyond your cycling game haha

Hell even my out of shape arse can keep up with this pace. Yikes and yawn. This is gonna be a doozy until the sprint finish
Posted on 7/4/23 at 8:19 am to Drank
Big mountain day tomorrow, but given the pace, it may open for a late attack opportunity from 30 km or so. Probably not, as too many teams invested in sprint.

Phil is making me drowsy. I think I found the best sleep aid ever
It seems Phil is back in his obsessive talk about Cav.

10k to go. So little drama in this race today up to now. Tomorrow will be different
Posted on 7/4/23 at 10:47 am to sms151t
I think every tour should have a Mountain TT

The most crashes I’ve ever seen on a perfectly straight road

Ygm. Don't worry about the fact the fantasy points are already counting. Usually the first few stages are practice but they changed the rules this year and I didn't have my team in place.
Oh well we won't beat the main guy in our group but we can still win stages and talk smack.
