No teams designed offenses to stop him. You know the Redskins designed their offense to stop him. Then teams went to the H-Back to get the extra TE on the field. The motions were done to engage the doubles and chips on him. What made it so tough to do against the Giants they had Banks on the other side who was almost as good. Then they had Pepper and Carson in middle.

Rickey Jackson

His stats and LT's stats were almost identical. Jackson I think had more TD's and fumble recoveries

It is still criminal that it took City Champ 13 years after retiring to get into Hall when guys like Andre Tippet went in before him with nowhere near the same stats

You know that Randy White considers that a high compliment.

Wonder if his BBQ place is still open in Frisco, TX

A third of those plays would be penalties now.

I miss real football.

Nah, watching the video, really only a couple would be. And those are the ones that would be "forcible contact to the head". Almost all of the hits in that video were between the shoulders and the waist.

Rickey Jackson was every bit as good as LT. the difference was that Taylor played in New York and got all of the publicity. Listen to players and real NFL people and Rickey was respected as much as LT

LT was the most disruptive player to ever play the game.

I’ll take Reggie White. From 86 - 88, this dude was just on another level and could not be blocked. 57 sacks in 44 games during that period. Hell, he had 133 tackles in 88. Those are LB numbers from a 300 lb DE.

It's not exaggeration and hyperbole though. LT was unblockable. You could double and triple team him and he would still get to the quarterback. Teams that tried to put a TE on him or chip him with a RB got destroyed. Offenses had to create a gameplan around stopping LT. You can hear this straight from the mouths of his opponents, it's not some made up legend.

Exactly! Teams literally had to change their game plan and create ways to try and stop him.

Not so CSB: Rickey Jackson and I are both from Pahokee, FL.

Could have been me.

Thurman Thomas was one of my favorite RBs to use

I always played as the bills. Thurman for the running on offense. Andre Rees as wr

I always played as Bennet the linebacker on defense, as I could often rush in and bump the o line off Bruce Smith and get the sack/tackle

Bum a Phillips took George Rogers with the first pick. Saints could’ve had Taylor and Jackson.
Ugh.

Among other things, Taylor said, "Dr. Doom inspired me to be great. The way he played made me wanted to play great. He motivated me to play the way I did. He was me before me."

Have an eerie suspicion you're full of shite.

Still own cane land in Belle Glade. Pahokee is in my region for work. Was there for a shooting on Rardin just a few nights ago. Anymore questions?

Yeah Reggie White was good. But, the late Jerome Brown was just as impactful.

The craziest LT story I ever heard was Michael Jordan and some other UNC athletes were playing basketball. In comes LT. He wants to play. But, they know he's crazy and don't want to play with him. LT jumps up, grabs the rim and rips it down. The basketball game ended.

That was an awesome video. At 3:02 they double teamed him and he literally just shoved both linemen out of the way.

That video also shows how nasty that NYG defense was too. In a lot of the clips there was another defender right behind LT.

LT shits on Rickey Jackson.

People always overrate LT as a pass rusher he might be the best pass rusher ever but its close.

LT was much better stopping the run, no one regardless of position is even in the conversation. LT is the only player that could single handedly could shut down your running game. You could run a sweep to the opposite side and LT would routinely chase backs down for no gain

And on short yardage and Goal line he would lineup in the middle and shoot the gap better than Mike Singletary or Jack Lambert could ever dream of
