By boycotting the NBA, the players are eliminating their major platform of addressing their grievances. It' like saying "I'm so mad that I am not going to say anything to anyone anymore."

I wonder if white people told the black players they could no longer play basketball until the BLM's grievances were resolved, what would their response be then?

MLB and NBA have been back for what, a month now? And ratings aren’t at some crazy level. People started spending time doing other shite.

You really would expect record level ratings with people pretty much locked in their homes. First of all, what else are people going to do but watch sports. Second, people didn't get any sports fix for ~6 months.

People have short memories, but I suspect things will get worse for the NBA/MLB once bars, restaurants, etc... open up and give them more options. NFL will likely join in.

This is something different. Their ratings are tanking so bad that the 1st round of the playoffs was down 20 percent from last year's 1st round ratings when ratings were already really bad. They are pissed off that people are voicing their opinion by not tuning in due to them being overly political when sports would normally get crazy ratings in this virus environment. And it's going to get much worse.

As I said before, these players don't want to play to begin with because there are no fans in the stands cheering them and worshipping them and they can't bang whores every other night. They don't have the discipline for playing basketball in the bubble. They are too pampered and out of touch with the world.

Unfortunately for them, most of the games have been in the day and early evening hours. When you consider that tons of people are "working" from home, many millions are unemployed, no fans are allowed at the games and most bars, etc., aren't even open, their ratings have been pretty pathetic. They are in trouble.

the playoff ratings have been mixed. the early games are obviously a blood bath but thats to be expected. the evening games have been down from last year, the primetime games have been up

The point is that if they were in even decent shape, their ratings would have been through the roof with sport-starved fans and many others who are all mostly at home (including all of the fans who are normally in the stands). I don't think the atmosphere of watching sports with no people in the stands helps, but I do believe many more would be watching if not for their overly political BS.

and i think this has been proven to have been an exaggerated thing as many people on here have spoken about how little they actually ended up missing sports. i know ive watched about the same amount of baseball and basketball since their restarts as i did before and i anticipated watching all of it. but i havent

baseballs ratings are the same mixed bag. RSN havent exploded, up only like 4%, and ESPN games have been up while FOX games have been down. we just simply didnt miss sports as much as anticipated

Every one of these sports has gotten a little political with all of this stuff, so you can't say the decreased ratings isn't related to that. But the NBA's ratings are down the most (though they were not good to begin with).

I'm sure the NBA will be able to sell ads based on what the ratings "would be" if they were actually playing these hypothetical games.

Why not? You got poll results stating that's why the ratings are down? I didn't think so.

All I know is that this shite continues to be some of the most surreal stuff I’ve witnessed in my 34 years.

In one day, we have a Cat 4 hurricane. Aftermath of rioting in Wisconsin. NBA teams boycotting their own playoff games. And this happening during Covid.

To stay on topic...the players are all in at this point. The spotlight is squarely upon their shoulders. Every word they utter into a mic will be scrutinized, and their actions magnified. If these guys don’t act like saints in the next couple of years, they will be run through the social media wringer. If they simply go back to their mansions and tweet, they’ll be shite on.

They took this step. They can say they are leaving this problem at the feet of the owners, but that won’t work either. The players have created this, now they need to own it.

This is the biggest load of horseshite I've seen on here in a while.

Nothing but pure conjecture. And a lot of projection I'd suspect as well. You don't the first thing about discipline in the NBA. They're pretty good at their job.

You guys sit there and drool and pray it's the end of the NBA, but it wont be. Just like it wasnt last time. Do you not have anything better to do in life than hate on a basketball league?

I’m sure it helps, but a lot of these nba players are legitimately upset with what they perceive to be continual injustice. Many donating their money and time.

They give money to people like Rev Al or Jessie.....it is sad how mind fricked people are.
