If the NBA had any balls it would terminate Lebron's contract with cause and indefinitely suspend him from the NBA. They need to send a message, the players don't run the league.
Even if it did, I doubt there's anything automatic about it.
The other party to the contract (the owners) would have to enforce the provision. They may see the politics of the situation as too damaging to do that.

Seems like a good question for the players to answer.
Well I think the answer is, stop playing and stick a wrench in the machinery that continues to contribute to the issues they protest.

Voting has never been enough to change what they are protesting against, so what else?
Voting for the right people to make change happen will always be a huge step, as policy can dictate a lot of things. There is a reason some players are taking on voter registration initiatives.

Cool, can you Email this vague, oversimplified solution to the owners so we can get this show back on the road?

No it won’t. They want you to think it will, but it won’t.

No, I don't think the players need to either. I think they're doing their part to start a movement to end the issues they're against.

will take decades to see noticeable changes dude. decades thats what they don't seem to understand. this can't be fixed in a day or a month or a year

Uhh, I believe that "the governors" is the preferred nomenclature, dude.

so not playing basketball solves the issues they're against? dude you make no sense. please stop talking unless you can explain how your logic works

In fairness, he is trying to explain the players’ position. I don’t think the words exist to explain their position.

How does “stop playing” stick a wrench in the machinery?
What is said “machinery”
You’re being very vague. So I’ll ask you, like I wish some would ask Lebron, What CHANGE do you want and how do we accomplish it? Articulate the point, be very specific.
Simple boycotting, sitting in a gated mansion tweeting does nothing....nothing...especially when the tweets say “fk it, we want change”.

gotcha dude.
these players are on national TV every night.. talking about voting and black lives. every single night. if anything, playing helps the issues they stand for. that's what I just don't understand about it dude..

I think it makes sense. Take away a resource that billions are spent on and millions enjoy. That's the power that they have. Don't resume until steps are taken to abolish or reform the police in this nation.
I'm not stating my beliefs here. I'm just saying what they are doing makes sense to accomplish their goals.

I actually agree with them about voting...helll, I agree with Obama on voting, “don’t get mad, VOTE”....well, +93% of black community has voted Democrat the last 50 years...how’s that working out? So yes, vote and change the way you’re voting.
If not, you’re no different than a Californian moving away from crazy liberal policies but continue to vote liberal.

I also agree with you here, however I think in cases of police brutality, voting Conservative is not really an answer here.
If Hillary had won in '16 we'd still be here. If Trump is re-elected we'll still be here. If Biden is elected, we'll still be here.

I understand the Orange Man bad argument and it is an absolute disease when it comes to mainstream liberal politics and journalism.
But I disagree on your main point. Black people aren't pissed about other black people getting shot by the police because Trump is president.

Fine with me. NHL and CFB are on and I'm good.

One, not really their resource to make that decision about.
I may work for Exxon but I can’t rally my coworkers to shut down all their plants until certain thresholds are met. I’d be tossed out on my arse for trying.
Two, if they did shut down, there is no guarantee they come back.
Ratings are down, ticket sales are down, and the TV outlets are in financial trouble. Those games go away indefinitely and those TV contracts go away and you may as well shut down the league permanently.
