Yes, you absolutely can. It's called unionizing.

Not the same and you know it.

Demanding higher pay or better work conditions is different from nebulous demands about “fixing things”.

Found this on r/lakers:

Sources to @YahooSports: There was frustration with Milwaukee players for doing this without talking to others. LeBron James initially stated he would go with the consensus, then got angry and stormed out.

Bronnie was OK with it when he though he would get his way then he flipped the table when he lost.

The point wasn’t just about the presidential election.

Black people vote as a group for the same party in all elections up and down the ballot at a nearly 90-95% clip. What that does is take away all their bargaining power as the politicians in one party know they don’t have to do shite for them because they will always be there and the other knows they don’t have to do shite for them because they will never vote for them. It’s really that simple.

If they really want “change” they should start by pushing more diversity of thought and taking an interest in new approaches to issues.

The Milwaukee players or all of them?

Boycotting a playoff game is kind of a big fricking deal.

That voting block is the real institutionalized racism they really should complain about.

Want to see change...real change, watch politicians actually work to earn your vote.

No other race is owned like the black vote.

I don't think nba moves the needle as much as bron thinks it does dude

maybe if all sports leagues took a similar action but just the nba doing it, will not amount to much of anything. most people will just laugh at them

this is where washed let's his ego get in the way of sound judgment.

And if you point out LBJ saying the same thing when signing the Civil Rights Act they will call you racist.

I think that the NBA might have drawn sympathy if not for the pandemic and the massive clusterfrick that was the Morey / China situation.

As it stands, people aren’t putting up with this shite after months of Covid stuff.

Covid has taught people how little they need sports

MLB and NBA have been back for what, a month now? And ratings aren’t at some crazy level. People started spending time doing other shite.

NBA gave the power to the players years ago. David Stern started marketing individual players over teams a long time ago.

Stern was always the boss though. Even in his twilight years he blocked a major trade that would’ve set up his biggest team (LA) with one of the league’s biggest marketable stars ever (Kobe) with a prime CP3. Silver doesn’t have 1/10th the balls Stern had.

And the owners, armed with that knowledge, should look to cut expenses/increase their share of the diminished pie at the expense of those causing problems (i.e. the players).

That's why the pessimist (some might say realist) in me thought, as my old college finance professor would say, "NFL - No Free Lunch."

If the NBA players want changes, okay. They can bargain for and give up something for those changes. The owners can work on the salary cap and luxury tax (which would have to happen anyways) and perhaps get some more of the smaller revenue pie in exchange.
