Trade your 25 year old superstar for a 31 year old center who gets hurt in game one. So your answer to that is to play your 32 year old point guard who’s missed nearly 30 games a year for his bc career 39 minutes per game. Unserious franchise

What was he averaging before that? Particularly while Luka was out?

39 minutes a game was normal for a star players until about 15 or 20 years ago

Yes indeed. Those of us who weren’t too old or too young watched it happen with clarity!!!!

Looks like 37 for the month of Jan, with two low minute blowouts pushing those numbers down.

How many are too many?

Dallas isn’t moving. This isn’t a small market.

This was an organization that ran Luka with top 2 in usage for the past 5 years, and most minutes played in the playoffs, and as soon he is injured they trade him because he's not healthy. They also probably brought Davis back too soon and played him too many minutes in his first game back to justify the trade.

They also fired their trainer, Casey Smith, and since he's moved to the Knicks, the Mavs are first in injury minutes and the Knicks last.

Yeah, and most of those guys careers were cut short due to injury. Just take a look at the minutes leaders in the NBA for the last 30 or so years. Guys get bigger, faster, stronger, and more explosive and more explosive movements lead to more injuries.

The pride in playing 40 minutes thing should've died when Derrick Rose tore his ACL. Allen Iverson's career basically ended at 32 because he spent his 20s playing 42 minutes a night.

Don’t they run a much farther distance than they did 20 years ago?
