Lulz Kobe. The overall cut of the money by percentage is the same for the players no matter what the income for the league.
It doesn't change the concept that the big stars have to choose sometimes whether they want the max allowed salary or take less for his team to sign better players to help it better compete for a championship.
Poor, underpaid Kobe.

Kobe's just pissed cause so many people criticized him for being greedy and taking a 2 year / $48 million deal from the Lakers.
This doesn't even make sense in the context of his argument. I think he's just a prideful SOB who doesn't like being criticized and this was his platform to vent out.

I have a feeling that both sides have incentive to get this out of the way quickly. I'm expecting a 3-5% jump and call it a day. The NBA is figuratively on fire right now, while the NFL is literally on fire right now. They'd be dumb to waste all the built up good will on a millionaire vs billionaire fight.
The MLB model. We all get paid, avoid a work stoppage and work on increasing the popularity of our sport. Thrown in a Basketball World Cup and the NBA could see a nice US and global surge. David Stern was a hardline guy and loved fighting with the players, Silver might be a bit more amenable to a quick negotiation.

Typical selfish and ego-maniacal Kobe. I seriously don't understand how anyone can like this dude. One of the most selfish people on this Earth, yet can't handle being called out for it.
Newsflash, if you want to make unlimited money, go play baseball. Instead of having actual competitive imbalance where your team can't just buy every player they want, the NBA actually cares about trying to improve on that compared to baseball.
According to Kobe, though, we should just have 3 or 4 teams like his Lakers be able to run roughshod on the whole league, and ignore the other teams.
God, he is an idiot.

Less broke players is better for the league, but i doubt they want to give the players other interest outside of basketball
Why should they? They are paying them for a job. My company does not care if I go broke and declare bankruptcy.

How is he not selfish but the owners arent ? Who has the right to be more selfish? The person that pays the players or the 400 people that actually have the ability to generate that mch $

In reality, that's true. They are first time millionaires and the owners are billionaires. Theyre rich, and the owners are wealthy
no no no.
90 percent of those "millionaires" you speak of live check to check.
they lose all the leverage once they dont have a game check coming in. the billionaires cant sit on their money and watch those players squirm

thats shortsighted and I hope the owners are smarter than you.

This is dumb. The players are going to see more money because of this deal also. It is like he is mad because the owners just got a TV deal that will make everyone throughout the different areas of the NBA more money.

Jesus Kobe.
The cba doesn't encourage you to take less,it's that with simple math taking less than max greatly helps your team compete.
And no one thinks your so selfish. But it's so obvious your handcuffing your team, and you're not worth what the lakers paid you.
But hey, I'll quit talking, and just let your disaster season do the talking for me.
