Lane Kiffin is such a huge failure that I am embarrassed for USC that this guy represent such a great program. This guy is as pathetic as any I have ever seen and he sums up everything there is to know about a spoiled brat.

2007 Tennessee had the #3 Ranked Recruiting class, pretty sure that is much better than what Kiffin provided them

He's got a better record at USC than he had at either of his two previous jobs.

I'm pretty sure that him leaving for USC had something to do with where their final ranking ended up .

So disingenuous and you know it. He was clearly going to have one of the top 2 classes in the country had he stayed.

I hate to sound like a Kiffin homer but a lot of those mistakes (poor angles, DB's not spotting the ball) are fixable - and relatively quickly.

You're kidding, right? You realize Hawaii had 588 yards, huh? That 3rd string QB came in for Hawaii and was toying with them. The 2nd string guy was probably yanked just because he wasn't that mobile, but he looked great too. He threw a great bomb in the end zone on his one drive, but it was dropped. And the starter, they absolutely couldn't stop him at all until that dirty hit took him out of the game. And they ran on USC easy too!

Now, don't get me wrong, I think Hawaii is pretty good. They will give some good teams fits this year and win some games. I know it was the 1st game, but that looked like the same USC D that gave up 55 to Stanford and 600+ yards or whatever it was to Oregon.

USC is fortunate that Hawaii doesn't know how to kick an onsides kick. Because they did it twice and both weren't really onsides kicks and never touched the ground. If Hawaii got one of those, USC would have been in deep...

That D was getting beat in every way possible and has an inexperienced secondary as well. I didn't see stuff that was quickly fixable out there.

Kiffin is not a bad coach (just an azzhole). And his D performed well last year at Tennessee. But I don't know about that USC D.

Barkley did look great. I think their offense will be good as usual. Hawaii is notorious for having a terrible D, but still, USC had some impressive execution out there.

That D needs serious help no matter how you look at it.

I love this...

First game of the season...national television. Young secondary against a pass first, second, and third offense. Oh yeah, and a high profile coach making his debut.

Who the frick cares how many yards they gave up? They won. And EVERYBODY gives up yards against Hawaii. frick PEOPLE.

yeah, after his last couple statements its quite clear this guy is either mentally challenged, looking for attention, or lane kiffins nephew.

USC should have enough built-in advantages that a monkey could have a winning record.

And the answer is C and D

I mean, I think everyone expect Hawaii to score with how young SC's secondary is, but the schemes were pretty much a mess. There were linebackers 30 yards downfield and receivers running wide open. Also, the D-Line, which is super talented were huge underachievers last night, which hurt the secondary

is beating Hawaii by 7 any worse than beating La Tech by 7?

A little bit since we had our backup QB playing (though it didn't affect Hawaii vs. USC's D) and didn't give up almost 600 yards to Tech. Also, Hawaii usually seems to field winning teams.

With that said, that was an awful game last year for LSU and the coaching on offense was atrocious.
