Secretariat's Triple Crown

1. Derby - Last to first in the Derby taking over in the last turn.
2. Preakness - last to first in the first turn. His greatest move in my opinion.
3. Belmont - Just running for the fun of running

All 3 track records, all 1/4 miles faster than the last. There is only one, and it's Secretariat.

I tear up every time I watch those Secretariat races. Unreal horse. A truly magical moment of a national hero that's an animal, not a human.

Yup. Really talented horse. The 1 hole isnt as bad as it used to be since they made the new gate, but he still needs to break good tho.

Danon Bourbon shipping in from Japan might crush this field. He’s a Kentucky bred, with prep race times seconds faster than Forever Young had.

Here's the thing about the Derby, perhaps even more so than any other horse race, it's too big to rely on the odds to help make your decision. In a perfect world, the masses are informed, and put money down on the best horse. You sorta see that reflected in the odds on Wednesday. The big players wait until the last second to place their bets. That's why you'll see a 15-1 horse on Wednesday be a 9-2 at post time on Saturday. Does a sucker get fixed odds on Wednesday and take the chance his horse is scratched?

There really is no sure thing. You can pick a Baffert horse. That's like betting on Bama to win at football. You're really betting on the program, more than the horse itself. Which is fine, sound logic.

You can pick the best jockey the horse is a moody teenager and decides it doesn't want to race that day.

You can pick the best finisher - but it gets trapped behind a wall of horses.

You can pick the fastest, but it can be in the wrong chute and get sand kicked in its face and quit.

It's a crapshoot, anyone who says differently is lying. Someone said earlier in the thread the favorite wins about 1/3 the time. Considering it's out of 20 moody-teenager-like horses, that's a pretty damn record.

Of all the years I've played horses, I have yet to see a 15-1 in the Derby go down to 9/2, unless there are some scratches who were around 4/1. Now, as far as CAW's, those odds will drop 0 MTP because of the big bettors using algorithms, and huge bankrolls. I personally saw with my own 2 eyes Dorichenko bet almost 20k on his own horse to win the LA Derby. The drop in odds wasn't that significant. There are about 10 horses that have a chance. The other half are toss outs. Rich Strike won because of a suicidal pace up front. I dont see a 45 for the half. Good luck.

Anyone have any idea how to get a derby day racing form online? Can’t find one and can’t get the link in this thread open.

Big fricking Red !!! Heart like a car engine. No modern “chemistry”. Old school breeding techniques and training. Has a long Euro bloodline. Attitude and confidence (which in my opinion is highly underrated in a horse ). Big Red knew he was the shite and knew when to turn it on. When he took over , he left no doubt. A true GOAT.

That definitely does not happen in the Kentucky Derby. There is so much money in the pool, the odds won’t change much at all before the race.

The fricking stupid Taylor swift news will possibly cause puma to be bet down to favorite. It is PR stunt after PR stunt for that idiot. I feel bad for saying this, but I keep refreshing Twitter in hopes he’s a vet scratch. I’m really not looking forward to having her shoved down my throat all weekend…

Doubt nbc would allow him to be a vet scratch.

I remember a few years ago NBC showed Mattress Mack putting a few million on one horse and its odds went down by 1 dollar.
