What is also dumb is the view that chasing down the K St player, blocking the shot, and then standing over him was justified because of “competitiveness” and “stealing the ball was bush league”.
All a bunch of nonsense created and pushed by children.
That position couldn’t be dumber if we all tried to make it.

I thought De Sousas block was fricking awesome and completely justified
Now, keeping it real and standing over him was dumb
BUT
Even that wasn’t a big deal. And it still wasn’t a big deal when the K State players came over to him. Just do the fake baseball bro thing where you stare at each other and kinda bump chests

It wasn't the most sporting thing to do but it didn't deserve the Muhammed Ali over Sonny Liston pose DeSousa was doing after the block. All the K-State players on the bench know was that one of their players got blasted to the floor by the block and some KU guy is just standing over the top of him. They don't know if their teammate is hurt, they don't know if DeSousa is planning on kicking or stomping him, all they know is that one of their teammates is in a potentially dangerous situation. I don't blame them one bit for leaving the bench to protect their teammate.
This fight is about 35% on Gordon for going for a steal that isn't going to make a difference in the game and 65% DeSousa for going Bill Lambier on a lay up that isn't going to matter in the game and then hovering over him while he is on the floor.

The tryhard benchwarmer from KSU tried to show up someone bigger and more athletic than he was when it was absolutely unnecessary. KU was totally in the wrong in everything that happened afterwards, but It's not JV HS basketball, these benchwarmers have to learn to chill when the game is out of reach for their team. At this level, none of that middle school hustle shite in garbage time is going to give them meaningful minutes in the future.

if the K St player wants to try for a chicken shite steal and layup at the last second, Kansas has every right to block the shite out that shot and then flex on him
