not what i was hoping DLB was going to do after ESPN. He and the radio crew could be a sports Stern if they wanted to. Their podcasts do huge numbers, just an odd decision for someone who gets burned out easily.

The worst part about Outkick and whatever this will be is that they take literally everything – it can be the most benign thing possible – and twist it to support whatever bullshite narrative they're pushing.

Travis is a despicable person for it, and Lebatard will be too if this is just going to be another outkick but on the other side of the spectrum.

How fricking tone deaf can you be?

Or as I refer to them, "People's exhibit 1, 2, and 3" in my defense of why I hate watching/reading ESPN content.

This is a terrible idea. People go to sources like outkick and barstool because they give opinions that are typically not heard on ESPN, FS1, etc. this politically progressive will just be the same washed takes from MSM.

The reason I stopped listening to Lebatard was after George Floyd when he was taking the 'I told you America was racist' victory lap.

I was a listener of his local show since probably 2006. Frick this progressive b.s.

They go to Outkick because they want to be in an echo chamber, and the people will go to this site for the same thing.

It's pathetic.

Here is how the brainstorming session that came up with this idea probably went:

What everyone will probably be saying soon enough:

At a time when sports show ratings weren't exactly growing (which Skipper should know), they decide that a more political sports show with some of the people who were bad at ESPN is the way to go?

Please sweet baby Jesus! With Dan included thats 4 of the top reasons I don't watch ESPN anymore. Just take the entire Around the Horn group of clowns and Wilbon so we can just call it a clean break.

there was a market for outkick..."keep the politics out of sports...well you can have them, just make sure I agree with them" guy. Really just appealing to natural sports fans, conservative males.

Who exactly is this targeting? The transgenders who feel left out of sports coverage?

From Skipper's wiki bio:
quote:

Sports Illustrated wrote that Skipper made ESPN "gobs of cash ... but he also made the network smarter and sharper." Skipper "championed soccer and the NBA, realizing that ESPN, armed with its many affiliates and platforms, could get more out of broadcast rights than any of its competitors could."[19]

He was also praised for pushing ESPN to become "more diverse on air and online when it came to both gender and race."[20]

During Skipper's tenure ESPN lost nearly 15% of its subscribers and laid off more than 500 employees. Additionally, ESPN's TV ratings declined significantly across the board and the network endured criticism from some quarters over the declining quality of its programming.

The sequence of those paragraphs, though.
