One thing I think about that I drill into my kid’s head is that you get, at most, approximately 40 regular season games (varsity) in your high school career and those are the only regular season games most kids will ever play. That’s probably only true for certain schools and certain kids. Most kids won’t sniff 40 regular season varsity games. Zachary is a place where most kids won’t dress varsity until they are a junior unless they are well above average.

Without getting into who is right or wrong or who should turn the other cheek I’ll say this — the real losers here are the kids on both teams that may not end up playing at all this week. They will lose one out of very few games in their high school career.

This hurts Curtis Kids A LOT. The starters only played one quarter last week against Central Lafourche. Curtis is doing anything possible short of going there after they went there last year. Not to mention Zachary screwed Curtis before so they won't bend on that.

Zachary schedule and football twitter tells you that they knew the game is supposed to be played in NO. They have their five home games scheduled already. Their Twitter page has their freshman football schedule posted, but not not varsity? Who does that?

ETA: I did find it on twitter in March. I didn't go that far back, but it still stands looking at that schedule. They have five home games without Curtis.

I don’t know how to link it, but Z Facebook page from March when they announced their schedule shows it as a home game.

I was initially curious but now this "rivalry" has my attention.

South Louisiana needs this to be settled on the field now this Friday night. It is starting to get vibes of Paul vs Danis.

I'll do the arbitration on this one for free. Move it to a neutral site. I think the Tanger Outlets in Gonzales would be a good compromise.

We'll play it in the parking lot North of the Cracker Barrel. Just need some old turf that is rolled up somewhere in the Superdome and a set of goal posts.

Catholic BR would never let this happen but then again they’re not a trash program.

I saw it listed as both Home and Away for Zachary, but the away version still listed the game being played in Zachary.

That may have been part of needing to find a Friday night venue. May seemed a little late go expect a switch, but high school is easier to switch sites than college games.

Also when looking on the LHSAA site I saw the Home/Away status and address of game not always matching for some games and other teams, so I wasn’t sure if some listed home teams are paid extra to travel to the listed visitor’s stadium or just mistakes on the website. It kind of adds to confusion in this case.

It feels like the truth is somewhere in between what the coaches are saying. One or both should have just fixed situation or made the call to find another opponent over the summer and announce it publicly, but they decided to play a game of chicken with each other up until the week before and hurt the kids.

One doesn’t call back, and one assumes a switch without any true communication with other coach or confirmation. These two are supposed to be leaders.

This is 100% true. JT even admitted that he dropped the ball by not getting confirmation, but no game being played is all in Zachary's court. Curtis contacted them in April. If Zachary didn't want the game, it would have still been messed up since Curtis went there last year, but answering/returning a phone call back in April would have allowed both teams to reschedule.

Now about 18 or so Louisiana teams that play either Curtis or Zachary are pissed that they lose a chance at one of them winning over this, which could have helped them get a top seed, a home game, or even just getting in the playoffs, something that could have been managed over Zoom and emailing and e-signing contracts

This is why the power point system is flawed. Get to 32 or 64 in D1, Go to 8 team districts with 4 making the play offs. Fairest way to do it.

Didn't they have to vacate a bunch of wins and 2 championships? Sounds pretty trashy to me.

And their radio guy wears what looks like a Whataburger orange coat to games. Pretty trashy also.

This isn’t in NOLA and there is a Jefferson Parish police substation in the stadium parking lot. Zachary can’t use that as an excuse b

Maybe they are afraid to travel through North BR?

Catholic was never very good until Judge Parker decided to bus everyone across town. Before that they could not beat the Baton Rouge schools. That was the gift that set Catholic up. All parents wanted their kids to go to Catholic. I won’t say Catholic is trash, knew people who went there. I would like to see a school like Liberty take football more seriously and see if they could get some of the south BR talent going to Catholic

Yes, high schools have season ticket holders.

I know people who buy season tickets from their rival high schools to make sure they are able to get into the rivalry games when they are on the road.

That's the saddest shite I've read all day. And I'm pretty sure I saw something about some kids dying earlier.

That was like 40 years ago.. quite a bit has changed if you haven’t noticed. A comparative cycle would be comparing the 1980s then talking about how those top schools should be thinking Truman for winning WWII

I don't have a dog in this fight, but Catholic has no one remotely the caliber of Jones or Shelton on this team. Outside of those two for the past several years they have very much been filled with average 5A talent. U High, Zachary, Scotlandville, Dutchtown, etc. have had more D1 talent.

Why is Zachary cancelling the game when Curtis went there last year. Curtis has offered them to play the game for free and still pay them.

According to Zachary, the agreement was for two years at Zachary. Losing that home game is a pretty significant financial loss.
