Joe sounds like he's still pissy the 49ers won another Super Bowl with Steve Young and didn't just fall apart after he left. Hell they were still good when Jeff Garcia was QB

Montana (like the Raiders Kenny Stabler) had the envious luxury of practically sitting in a Lazy-Boy recliner back in the pocket or drifting in it safely
Some real revisionist history going on in this thread.

Young was awesome in the USFL and then the NFL.
Montana was the GOAT until unseated by Brady, and that fact is indisputable at this point.
Montana is still arguably GOAT SB QB.
And Montana damn near got killed by Giants’ Jim Burt …and, surprisingly, went on to have some damn good years as Chiefs QB.
It is true, though, that Montana joined a historically shitty team…and Young did not.

It definitely is disputable when this is considered roughing the passer in Brady's era:

And this wasn't in Montana's:

Didn’t realize Joe got down like that.
Much props.
** Edit to also comment on the videos above, whether we like him or not Dilfer is right, it was a different league back then.

Montana got absolutely crashed on that hit. Didn’t take another snap for almost two full seasons after that.
Also, in either ‘85 or ‘86, had major back surgery that caused people do doubt if his career was nearly over. Ended up winning two more Super Bowls and played in four more conference championships.

Young was better than Montana.

San Fran. Cheated the cap and had stacked teams
Both montana and the lefty benefited from it.

Whether he's ready is still a question mark but not definitive that he wasnt.
was definitive for me.
1. not great passer.
meh- D.
2. doesnt know how to navigate while carrying the ball. didnt get down timely. caught up with him with the quickness. F
was the worst trade ever.
3 #1s for a clueless kid.
purdy is better.
frighin jimmy g is better than lance and hes a statue. he can pass some. B

Honestly a really shite take. Montana is the Best comp to Joe Burrow.

Not sure how you can make these determinations after 3 NFL starts. It's strange how some people have labeled Lance a bust already despite his lack of playing time. Like they can't wait for the dude to fail. I'd be happy to have Purdy return as the starter, but also wouldn't mind having a QB that could return the deep ball to the offensive game plan.

1. he may get better.
2. hes not ready now.
3. he sure and the hell was not worth 3 #1s. hes a kind of a bust based on the price and what ive seen so far.
4. yes, i can fricking tell after 3 games. hes got a lot to learn. hes not going to start for me, as is. im not interested in his learning curve in real games. hes rich now. if he had eligibilty left he should have got a masters at a p5 with a nice nil.

Although his SB peformances were great, Joe Montana did play on those 49ers teams that were stacked on defense and especially offense -- coached by offensive Bill Walsh.
Tell me you know nothing about football before 1990 without telling me you know nothing about football before 1990.
What a joke of a post. LOLOLOLOL
That dynasty was built around Montana, with Walsh as the driver. Montana didn't have those weapons until the third Super Bowl win.
Idiots everywhere.

That's the hit that ultimately stopped the potential "Three Peat".
Craig would later fumble in that game allowing the Giants to kick the FG to win and go beat BUF.
But yeah, Montana had it easy back in his day and never got hit. LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Is this a confirmed swipe at Steve young? Or is he bitter that Brady supplanted him as the goat and is taking a shot at him?
