Is Tech holding out for a bigger conference?

Who's wants your pity?

Y'all have done a good job competing and building the conference. But to act like the conference Tech left 20 years ago is the same conference y'all have today is ridiculous.

La Tech attendance is growing every year. Sports are doing better than they were 20 years ago. I think the argument was that Tech shouldn't have to "beg" to get in. Not that Tech is too good, but that it's a good quality school with competitive sports programs. Any conference should want that, and Tech should fit that criteria, outside the P5 conferences if course.

No they didn’t ask for the tornado, I’m very glad that no one was killed, but FEMA funded their renovations.

It is a very nice baseball stadium though.

I meant compared to their own numbers year after year.

Tech enrollment last 7 years;

Fall 2014 11,271
Fall 2015 12,414
Fall 2016 12,694
Fall 2017 12,873
Fall 2018 12,467
Fall 2019 11,957
Fall 2020 11,197

No one ever said Tech had the best numbers ever and they should be matched to other Louisians colleges. I just listed reasons on why tech would/should be considered.

Edit: my bad, I said attendance and I meant enrollment in the earlier post

McNeese

Lmao! Nobody is taking us at the FBS level. We can't even fill up the stadium we have now, and haven't in years. A move into a conference like that isn't all of a sudden going to generate a bunch of interest in the fanbase. And there's no way McNeese could afford to move up, either.

And after I posted, I see this. You've got to be shitting me. CUSA is desperate as hell if they are calling McNeese.

ETA: sounds like McNeese reached out to CUSA..

Thinking that way is why McNeese is the reason they are where they are. I worked for Dr. Burckel and I think he wants it and will find a way. It’s unfortunate they aren’t very good currently. Probably would have been easier in the early 2000’s.

Say what?

Definitely would have been easier in the early 2000s. I hate to say it, but it would be foolish and maybe even the death of the program. McNeese doesn't have the resources. The fanbase isn't interested.

We averaged 11k fans/game in the undefeated campaign in 2015. Our highest attendance ever was Gilbert's first game as head coach in 2019--alittle over 20k. I doubt we would even meet the average attendance requirement for the FBS.

I would love to see McNeese get back competitive before we think about a move to the FBS. I believe a move like that right now would crush the program. There's just no momentum for it.

I remember sitting in the student section in a game we played FIU and you could see pretty much all of Jonathan Cyprien's gigantic dick through FIU's white pants.
