@SunBelt will invite James Madison, Marshall, Southern Miss and Old Dominion as soon as next week CBS Sports has learned. Other outlets have reported next week. Differing timelines at this point. Not sure who reported first but @MattBrownCFB and @collegead were on it

I guess CUSA is dead then? Not surprising but still kind of sucks. Lotta good teams came through there and a lot of fun times. RIP old friend

Definitely sad to see it go.

Big problem was that during the BCS era, the commissioner saw his job as helping members move up to a better conference.

Just strange that CUSA traditionally poached Fun Belt teams and now the reverse is happening.

Might not want a school w/ a religious affiliation. Just like the PAC-12 not wanting BYU, TCU, etc.

I remember the good old days when conferences were aligned according to geography.

Glad for USM but I wonder who is paying the bills for them to bail on CUSA.

Their AD is going “I’m broke, beyotch!”

If CUSA isn’t a conference they don’t pay anything I’m guessing WKU and MTSU go to the MAC

They could add UMass, UConn, Liberty, and NMSU as football only if they want to live as a FB conference. Not sure if they can get enough full members for the NCAA bball bid though.

One, presently, is not like the others. That’s a whole lot of bad. Can’t wait for the UMass cross country affair vs the Aggies on Wednesday night.

Conference USA doesn’t and never had a chance. Regardless of how you feel about Louisiana Tech it’s pretty disgusting what ESPN has turned college football into and this is just another example of it.

Conference USA didn’t have a chance because it expanded moronically a decade ago. The Mountain West isn’t an ESPN property, but none of their members left for the American.

Conference USA has no one to blame but itself for becoming a worse conference than the Sun Belt. I do feel for the left behind teams though.

When/if CUSA disolves, there are no exit fees

No invite for La Tech either, and I haven't heard any smoke about them getting an AAC invite.

CBS Link - CUSA hanging on by a thread

Looks like fate will be decided in the next few days.

Cajuns playing 3 out of 6 home games mid week and ESPN moving homecoming to 11 am is a prime example of getting fricked by ESPN.

Meanwhile other Sunbelt teams that they don't want to air, get same payout, but don't have to move any games

WKU
MTSU
FIU
UTEP
NMSU
LA Tech
Liberty
UConn (FB only)
UMass
Sam Houston
McNeese

ETA: I could see Army joining as a football only member to that. They just don't want to be in a tough conference, which that is not.

Kind of surprised that WKU did not find a spot. Solid basketball history, recent football success and good fan support.

If they wanted to do FB only, they’d go with the MAC over the remaining CUSA. Army would too.

WKU
MTSU

I think these two are MAC bound.

Best option may be the new WAC.

FIU
UMass

Don’t see any options here.
