Rmc you’ll love this from logictrumpsemotion on sportsline

quote:

'll tell you like I would if I were brewerton before the committee. West Monroe has a ceiling that is higher than Zachary by far: more kids; better community support; better demographics; and the potential is far superior in terms of national prominence. West Monroe still has everything it needs to be a national power. Zachary does not. Zachary must compete with so many schools in baton rouge for kids there is no way they can ever be a national power like West Monroe. The staying power of WM is far superior as well. There is no way they can ever fall off internally unless they self destruct. It would be an honor to bring them back to national prominence again and restore the glory once more. The ceiling of WM is and will be far superior to Zachary or anyone else in louisiana and nothing has changed that since shows left. Brewerton is hired athletes will flock back. Heck, my nephew who is 6'2" 200 would likely come back as well and play again as a QB in his offense. But, (Jess, former Many and current Natchitoches Central coach) Curtis and (Chip, coach in MS) Bilderback are as qualified as Brewerton and you can't go wrong with any of the three. In terms of your question of what WM has instead of Zachary? Staying power long term, better community support, better demographics within school consistently, and a higher ceiling that he can't reach at Zachary. Ever.

Well I’ll just say that guy has no idea of the machine Brew has built in Zachary (or Z) with the ceiling talk. The job may appeal to Brew for any number of reasons but I truly do not believe for him it would be that there is supposedly a higher ceiling. At the same time WM certainly has to be a top if not the top job in the state.

It is a great coaching job, one of the best there is, but their past championships have made them delusional. The game has changed, if Evangel, Landry Walker, and Zachary didn’t already show them

Their biggest strength is that they’re the top dog in NE Louisiana. Their biggest curse is that they’re in NE Louisiana

Brewerton pulled out of the running. Honestly Jess Curtis is the guy. Young enough to have energy(Arledge), proven, and offensively take WM back to basics. Run the ball and play aggressive defense. Garvin is fools gold.

Not to mention if it’s Curtis, you kneecap a potential rival down the line before they ever get started… would you want to pass on him and then face him in the playoffs?

Looks like ole Brew took a page from Don Shows.

Getting that bank account ready for a nice big raise.
Can't say I blame him though.

I wonder why Catholic High has not gave him some nice benefits that he wanted? The Alumni there is probably swimming in $$$

As far as who is the next HC, whether it be Garvin or whoever, I don't think anyone really knows what they will accomplish.

How many coaches have come in with a great resume only to fizzle out?
Its hard to catch lightning in a bottle.

I'll say this though.

Whoever the next HC is at WM, the standard is set very high.

for 20 years NELA ruled the top division

since the split NELA has ruled the lowest division

NELA seems to represent well in the championship games

If WM hires the right guy, NELA will once again be one of if not the top dog in Div I Non-Select.

From a Monroe area media guy...

Sean Fox
@fox4sportstalk
We asked current and former high school coaches, current Louisiana college coaches, officials, and media members across the state of Louisiana what they thought the top 10 High School football jobs in the state where. No criteria was given. We will share the composite thursday.

IMO it's not going to be a bunch of jobs that you would think... some coaches want to be paid, some want job security, and some want to rack up championships

mine: C.E. Byrd, WM, Neville, ASH, Barbe, Sulphur, Catholic BR, Zachary, Jesuit, John Curtis

I think they could be a lot more competitive in the playoffs with someone like Sterlington's Lacey Carpenter, or a proven East Texas coach, and an opened up offense.
