Burrow had less than 500 pass attempts last season, so he's eligible for ROY this year. He wins over Chase.

Chase is proving he was the better pick over Sewell.

To be fair, Chase proved that 2 years ago as well. But that didn’t stop the herd from fawning over a highly questionable Pac 10 tackle that no one had ever seen a snap of and that also sat out his last year of college.

Anybody who thought Chase wasn’t going to be a beast was just stupid. His 2019 tape is just absolutely insane.

What part of it is false? There were 100’s of fans (Even a majority of LSU fans) white knighting for a guy they had never seen play over Chase, a player many had seen dominate SEC corners week in and out in 2019.

Maybe as an Oregon fan, you had seen Sewell play, but I am willing to bet that 99% of the people shouting at the rooftops that the Bengals take Sewell over Chase had never even seen Sewell play. It was just odd. Chase was a slam dunk pick with both the higher floor and ceiling of the 2 prospects. Sewell was largely an unknown quantity, yet most were convinced that the Bengals should/ should have selected him, even though highly drafted offensive lineman have around a 50% hit rate. And the fact that Sewell had sat out a year as well was an unprecedented situation. Just seems like an enormous risk to pick a 350 pounder that is a year removed from playing football vs an otherworldly athlete in Chase that has elite on and off the field chemistry with your franchise QB.

I’m not sure if this is accurate to be honest. Sewell definitely had the higher floor I think. His floor was a very good starting guard in the NFL.

Chase probably had the higher ceiling, as he was talked about by some as the best WR prospect in quite some time, since Julio. But before 2020, Sewell also got that same kind of talk as the best OT tackle in awhile. He definitely wasn’t an unknown commodity. He had more tape than Chase (2 seasons to basically 1)

Chase was obviously the right pick for the Bengals. But that’s not a knock on Sewell. Frankly, the Bengals didn’t need a tackle. Contrary to what the average fan on here said. Jonah Williams and Riley Reiff are good and solid players. They needed interior OL - guards and center. That’s where the OL is/was weak. And you don’t spend a too 5 pick on a guard. If they needed tackle help, Sewell is probably the pick.

Sewell was more internet sensation than actual draft prospect. The type of OT the internet draftniks projected him as would NEVER slide like he did. He's like Justin Fields in that respect.

This isn't to say that Sewell can't eventually be a great OT. Chase just plays a more valuable position at a higher level.

On top of that, the Bengals solidified their OTs in the offseason. Their major issue is interior OL, and Sewell has proven that he isn't really capable of playing anything other than LT. He was GOD awful at RT earlier this year.

Is there where I come to eat my crow for thinking cinncy should have picked Sewell?

I'll have it pan fried and served over dirty rice, please.

I just find it weird that every LSU fan that hated on him because of the opt out, suddenly never existed.

Damn near impossible to hold it against Chase seeing the product LSU put on the field last year.

Would have done absolutely nothing beneficial for his career.

500??? That’s over 30 passes per game in old 16 game schedule
