It’s good for people who like great basketball and that’s all I personally give a frick about. If they get low viewership and lose some money, they are still going to have a season next year so I don’t care about their numbers.

That's how you know the NFL is king. No one worries about the ratings being bad if the Packers make the SB.

I enjoy watching both teams.

They shoot the three, but also shoot floaters and mid range shots.

They play defense.

I would guess OKC will be favored.

That’s because the press would rather cover games in New York/LA vs. OKC or Indy.

Metro areas and media markets =/= city limits populations

DC, Boston, Atlanta and Miami dwarf OKC as metros and media markets

I wouldn't be surprised if Cleveland and slc metro areas are larger than OKC too.

Now do the suburbs. Those are the ones buying the tickets and driving the ratings. Inner cities, any of them, don't drive markets. Outsiders that travel into the city do. Sports would die if only supported by the cities they represent.

So sick of this narrative. Why even have teams outside of NY/Cali? shite is so stupid.

As soon as the finals were set, I knew this EXACT thread would be posted.

It happens every single year if a NY or LA team isn’t in a championship game.

People are stupid. Who cares?

How they still have a team kinda amazes me.

They won’t for long. I’ll give em 5 more years.

This finals is an incredible matchup.

I have no skin in the game. OKC will demolish Indiana.

Two small market teams. No big east coast or west coast teams. Just Oklahoma and Indiana.

That's precisely why the NBA rigged the playoffs to wind up with two large market teams.

This.

They actually think sports get paid on a rating point basis like commission or something the TV contracts are multi year deals that are paid for already. The NBA makes the same money if it’s OKC vs Indiana as LAL vs Boston. Now it might not be ideal for the network and advertisers but even there people act like it’s a zero sum. They won’t get as good of ratings and advertisers might not reach as many viewers but they will still be fine. It’s not like the his will be zero rating

Watch this Finals be decently rated, carried by the momentum of not having any of the darlings in it.
