How many top 10 teams did those programs play during the season?

'95 Nebraska played 4 top 10 teams and the closest margin of victory was 23 points... so yeah

So tough to say. I’d say not better than Miami

Since you didn't, I've done the homework for you . . .

1995 Nebraska
vs #8 Kansas St (Lincoln) W 49-25 - KSU finished #7
vs #7 Colorado (Boulder) W 44-21 - CU finished #5
vs #10 Kansas (Lawrence) W 41-3 - KU finished #9
vs #2 (AP) / #2 (Coaches) Florida (National Championship, Fiesta Bowl) W 62-24

2001 Miami
vs #13 Florida St (Tallahassee) W 49-27 - FSU finished #15
vs #15 Syracuse (Miami) W 59-0 - SYR finished #14
vs #11 Washington (Miami) W 65-7 - UW finished #10
vs #4 (AP) / #2 (BCS) Nebraska (National Championship, Rose Bowl) W 37-14

LSU is 48 ppg and allowing 21 ppg, closest margin of victory is 3 pts.

Stats say no

LSU would have played and beaten 7 or 8 top ten teams.

Nebraska - well maybe 4

And if the BCS era has taught the country anything - it's that most conferences outside the SEC suck dick.

Stats say yes

Probably better than Miami and Nebraska...but definitely not better than last years Bama team ...the greatest college football team of all time.

2019 LSU would run 1995 Nebraska out of the stadium.

Lulz, I remember all of these threads before the NCG about Bama last year.

Defenses knew what they were running and still got destroyed. It was a juggernaut on steroid.

if they house Clemson like Nebraska did Florida, yeah they’re worthy of that conversation.

nobody played Nebraska close that year. LSU had a 7 point victory over Texas, a 5 point victory over Alabama, and a 3 point victory over Auburn. Y'all were saying the same things in 2011. Just stop. Enjoy the season for what it is so far and what it can potentially be. Every time LSU has a great team this "GOAT" talk gets started

And just 8 years later with the dawn of the BCS and truly measuring schedules - what did we learn?

Those Big 8/Big 12 conferences were way over hyped and sucked donkey balls

No

They have the best pro style quarterback of the three teams but Miami was much more talented as a whole and Nebraska played pretty nearly perfect football for an entire season. In terms of NFL talent it's Miami. In terms of accomplishment for a season, it's Nebraska.

I just want LSU to win and finish the season as the best team of 2019. That's more than enough.

that’s what most of us want, obviously. but if we do, there really won’t be a comparison, resume wise. outside of our 2011 team

LSU would beat the frick out of both of them. Players were so fat and slow in the 90s and early 2000s.

I think the thread is about best/dominant team for the era that they play in vs other eras. You can’t compare athletes today vs past years. Last year’s LSU team would beat the ‘58 national championship team. Just like some 9-3 LSU team 50 years from now would beat this year’s team.

This LSU team would beat both of those teams soundly.

If you think that makes them the better team through time, then that's just fine.

If not, that is fine too.

1995 Nebraska is still the gold standard IMO. They annihilated everybody.

Their closest game was a 2 TD win over Wazzu, and I think the Huskers allowed two garbage time TDs off of turnovers.
