The 95 Nebraska team beat an undefeated and dominant Florida team by like 100 points.

Still blows my mind that the ‘95 team did not give up a single sack all season. Zero. Averaging 53 ppg as an option run team is pretty staggering too

No.
The 95 Blackshirts and the 01 Miami defense were just as dominant as their offense.
Those were two of the best college teams to ever play.
Ironically, the 83 Huskers may have been better than both. They just had one bad game.

LSU would beat the frick out of both of them. Players were so fat and slow in the 90s and early 2000s
And if Tua hadn't fumbled the ball early in the game, we wouldn't be having this conversation. If Auburn wasn't starting a freshman QB, we wouldn't be having this conversation. If Joe Burrow tears his acl on the first drive on the 13th, we won't have this conversation.

. I think LSU played 11 bowl eligible teams this year. That says something.
There are also 678 bowl games now.

How many top 10 teams did those programs play during the season?
95 Nebraska beat 4 teams that finished* in the top 10 by 24, 23, 38, 38. The last one was Florida 62-24, basically what LSU beat OU by this year and 95 Florida > 19 OU.
These things are better judged with the passage of time. At the time no one was really saying that about 95 Nebraska and 2001 Miami is as much about the sheer # of NFL guys they had rather than their dominance

LSU would have played and beaten 7 or 8 top ten teams.
Nebraska - well maybe 4
That's 4 teams that finished in the top 10, you are counting an 8-5 and a 9-4 teams as top 10 for LSU. In the final rankings if LSU beats Clemson we will probably have 5 wins over top 10 teams: Clemson, OU*, UGA, Alabama, Florida assuming OU doesn't fall out of the top 10. LSU also will play 3 more games if 95 NU had a CCG and national semi final that's 2 more top 10 games. Overall however, the LSU schedule is tougher, but Nebraska's MOV is greater. This is something better judged with the passage of time

Yeah, there's a lot more bowl games, 40 this year vs 18 in 1995

Y'all were saying the same things in 2011.
I actually think 2011 has a better argument than 2019 (barring the mulligan). One of the toughest schedules in CFB history, and our only close game was the Game of the Century. IF we had played Oklahoma State and won, our resume would've consisted of wins over the Big 12 champ, PAC-12/Rose Bowl champ, Big East/Orange Bowl champ, and an all-world Bama team (likely Sugar Bowl champ). 2011 LSU-Alabama was the modern-day version of 1971 Nebraska-Oklahoma.

I know it happened in my lifetime. It it's crazy to think Nebraska was ever a dominating team.
Miami is getting there too

I remember going to an LSU-Nebraska Sugar Bowl and thinking will LSU ever be able to compete with a program like that
Now the best Nebraska could hope for is a Wisconsin-Iowa type level

Probably not. There will be other 15-0 teams. And by definition, they'll have beaten top 4 teams in the last two games. The CCG will usually be against a ranked opponent. They'll gave other tough outs in the conference schedule.
Then you add on the eventual playoff expansion and there will be a 16-0 team. This team will likely be underrated in the history books.

LSU's resume is the best ever.
But idiot ESPN keeps saying it's because they scored more points than any AP Champ since 1936.
They played fricking 15 games, most AP champs played 10-12 throughout all of history.
1966 Notre Dame won the National Title and they won 9 games.
Playoff era records are separate from the history of CFB because you can't compare.
But because LSU had to win an ungodly amount of games to win the National Title against so many ranked opponents stands alone.
But with the new format, it will be repeated and repeated and repeated.

Hard to say they’re better but they’re in the conversation at least

Hard to compare teams from different eras but I'd definitely put 2019 LSU on Mount Rushmore with 95 Nebraska and 01 Miami.

Ken Dorsey would hold back the 01 Miami team. Dude was average as hell.
re: Is the 2019 LSU team better than the 2001 Miami and 1995 Nebraska teams?Posted by Madking on 1/14/20 at 7:41 am to Street Hawk
Neither of those teams could hold LSU under 40 and neither had the passing QB to keep up. Nebraska was awesome but against the massive LSU front couldn’t have kept up pace and Ken Dorsey would’ve been eaten alive by this secondary. On D Miami’s Dline was nowhere near good enough to stop LSU and Nebraska didn’t have close to enough good DBs to slow LSUs passing game. The only argument I’ve seen is double standards about stats while ignoring the unprecedented number of top 10 wins LSU had this season. If you actually matched up the personnel LSU has the edge vs both teams. Sure Miami 01 is loaded in certain position groups like RB, TE and safety but everywhere else LSU has the advantage. Anyone who remembers their title game knows they relied on a ton of turnovers from a Nebraska team who didn’t even deserve to be there and after the initial barrage Nebraska actually held their own, outscoring Miami 14-3 in the second half. LSU 19 vs Miami 01 would look a lot like last night.

They Kellen Winslow was backing up Jeremy Shockey at TE and Andre Johnson was out wide. They were without question the most talented team, but I don't think they were as dominated at Nebraska. The Miami team actually played in some close games
Nearly lost to BC and VT.
Most talented != Best
