10 years is a long time. How can anyone predict what will happen after 5 years esp with 60 year old coaches.

It's stupid

10 year contracts for football coaches should absolutely come to an end until they achieve Saban like status..

Smart is the only coach right now that should sniff that kind of deal.

I'm excited to see the first team that gets medium coaches, pays them medium prices, and puts the rest into NIL.

Peak stupidity was hit, not with Jimbo, but with Mel Tucker. Hopefully that was the peak of the insanity and it stabilizes a bit.

People are spending their money bribing recruits now instead. As if anyone is going to chose a company because some freshman player is in a print ad. It’s lunacy.

Why pay someone that much money?

Because that is their budget. What else would they do with the ticket, suite, parking, television, corporate sponsorship, and scoreboard advertising revenue? Build a digital library?

Team want their top choices.

Top choice Coaches don’t accept contracts that make it easy to fire them.

Jimbo got an extension too.

Those are the types of contracts you are going to have to offer if you want coaches that have been around the national title scene to come to your school.

Meh you could probably get Coach O for 5 and 25

The reason jimbo landed at aTm was F.King Alexander balked at Jimbos contact and decided to keep a lame duck but 9-10 win Les Miles

I don't know but ADs need to grow some balls and not extend average coaches every offseason. Start calling these agent bluffs when they say their mid tier coach is going to another school and stop extending mediocrity.

Seems like a good balk in retrospect.

Nope.

Top coaches will still command it to stay and lesser coaches will demand it to bolt from their current job.

The inflation is going to continue until booster money dries up one way or another. Between big coach contracts and NIL, I see a bunch of programs going bust when the economy really hits the toilet and their boosters can’t keep up the outflow.
