Three years, 104 innings.
Put him in the Hall.

I never bought that when talking league-leading stats, there are just more shitty players now than before.

Also you keep bouncing between comping him for his "peak" and his total body of work. He gets out "peaked" by guys like Sandy, but then you can't say his total body of work is better than a peak guy like Sandy.

I haven’t said anything about his peak Barry. Just that his broken up seasons make him a different type of case. Even in shortened seasons, has been completely dominant. And when you condense them all, his rate stats look really good. They arent prejudiced to his injury.

He's a great pitcher. He's just not out there enough to make a difference.

DeGrom is one of the GOATs when you take his condensed stretch & compare it to others.

Is this not his peak?

What do you mean by condensed stretch? His career numbers?

With the way starting pitching and injuries have trended and continue to, there’s going to be a lot more DeGroms. Maybe not as extreme as him, but the traditional career counting stat barriers are going to be less relevant for like a generation of starting pitchers when it comes to the hall. It will be interesting to see how they handle it

His injured seasons, condensed

Like if 2020-2022 were 1 season

8.6 WAR
224 IP
352 K’s
2.05 ERA
198 ERA +
.73 Whip

Koufax never had a season where his ERA+ was over 190.

All I’m saying is the injured seasons make De Grom’s numbers deceiving.

All those innings the top guys aren’t pitching dont help their team… like seriously would you rather have DeGrom or some other dude out there if DeGrom has a so-called hall of fame case?

That said, his WAR/162 is better than all of them (7th all-time). If you normalize volume

Too bad you can’t “normalize volume” because he can’t stay on the field. The best ability truly is availability. It’s cool that’s he’s great when he plays… but he doesn’t play

He’s played well enough when he does play that his body of work puts him in the discussion.

If he gets to 2000 innings he’s going to be a shoe-in.

He’s not a hall of famer. I didn’t think I had to spell it like I would a 3rd grader and for that, Mingo regrets the error

Jumping in the thread to say he gets hurt a lot wasn’t exactly ground breaking, mingy. I apologize if I thought maybe you had more to say

I’m arguing against the “normalized volume” bullshite people are trying to use.

His numbers aren’t “deceiving” like you tried to say. His numbers are his numbers. When he plays, he’s awesome, but he doesn’t play. That’s extraordinarily clear

He pitched more than Billy Wagner. If relievers are let in, you can justify starters with short but dominant careers.
