They screwed up by allowing scalpers to buy up a lot of the tickets and create this artificially high demand. Should have outlawed prices over list price but FIFA doesn’t care because they are getting a fee from every transaction.

Yeah, because they’re the ones that say you’ll get murdered if you dare step into a major city. Definitely not Fox.

Aren’t they going to be a state soon? Trump said it would happen. What about taking over Greenland? Any news on that?

I always get a good chuckle if of people who use these broad statements, speaking on behalf of a large group of people.

It won't be a flop while the political landscape has certainly have some concerned overall it'll be a big success. The larger factor here is absolutely FIFA and how extremely greedy corrupt they have become the get in price for even a ticket to see Hati in Atlanta is $300. God forbid you try to see one the elite European teams or America

Flopping is what they do best.

Every game is like watching a bunch of happy dogs rolling around in dead things.

There is a lot of negative news pertaining to the US in foreign media, but I just returned from a 2 week rte 66 trip and met people daily from around the globe. One business I was in, I met 3 people from Australia and they weren't together.

Possibly the worst take ever.

Not only have fans come in the thousands, they love America. This is being called the Greatest World Cup ever because of how the fans and their traditions have been welcomed by the American people.

Some are saying that it's the first time fans have felt welcomed and catered to by a host country.

This World Cup is the greatest thing to ever happen for America's global image.

ETA: Mexico is being praised as well. The Mexican people have also been very welcoming to visiting fans.

The only one that is being criticized, or not praised at all, is Canada. This has been a giant fail for their image.

Have the Canadians been criticized or had any controversy? I haven’t heard this.

The US and Mexico have both had very good viral moments, for sure.

There's stories of luggage being stolen from hotels, price gouging, homeless and drug addicts begging the tourists and just making them feel unsafe (apparently it's been really bad in Toronto), and just not feeling welcomed as much as they are in both America and Mexico.

And they don't find the Canadian people to be as friendly or fun.

Apparently there's a reason that visitors aren't sharing their experiences in Canada as much as the US and Mexico.

This is the problem in general for every damn concert or sports events for the last 20 years or so. This has been much worse post 2020. Ticketmaster and Live Nation can f'k off!

To the extent hotel numbers did miss the mark it’s because the absurd domestic demand here made tickets so expensive that fewer people made the trip over, or they stayed for fewer matches

Either way, this is going to go down as the most successful World Cup in history by a mile and we’re all but guaranteed to get 2038 or 2042 as a reward

I bit the bullet and dropped $1300 for two tickets to Dr Congo-Uzbekistan in Atlanta. I was floored at the sold out stadium and atmosphere for what in paper had to be one of the bottom three matches in the tournament. This WC is a massive success story.
