Odd numbers of teams allow for collusion or sandbagging detrimental to other teams because there’s always one team that’s finished playing before the final matchday
Collusion / corruption is fundamentally interwoven with soccer to begin with, so that should be enough. But even if not explicit corruption, a team that knows they’re in the clear because of the performance of a finished team choosing to then rest stars for that last match…that then gives a free result to another team based on dumb timing luck and not merit. Which screws another team
There’s only 3 games in the group stage. For competitive fairness everyone has to play that final match on the same day at the same time (as the NFL finally figured out with starting all Week 18 games with interrelated consequences at the same time)

Is it just me or is the World Cup going to be a gigantic flop?by FLTechPeople aren't traveling to America because they are scared to death to travel here. I watch a lot of videos where people from other countries visit America for the first time and every single one of them talked about how scared they were of traveling here because their local news back in their countries talk about the USA 24/7 and how dangerous and unsafe it is to visit here.
One day you dorks will realize that soccer will NEVER be as popular as you want it to be. Sorry, it just will never catch on in America until the globalists completely take over

Didn’t realize that. TBH I’d rather play in LA in June. If they played in Houston there would be more Mexican/South American fans vs US. The baseball world classic was crazy Hispanic crowd. It was also a lot of fun lol

Houston isn't the only option. The Midwest absolutely should have gotten a game. Huge American soccer support.

I had a friend in Canada tell me that Trump didn't want Canadians to come to the US and he is afraid of traveling here

Yeah KC would’ve been cool. That whole area is big soccer.

that is not a good sign - I just feel like this thing is going to be a flop with a lot of empty seats in the stadiums
Dude have you seen ticket prices lmao

Yeah I think that's going to be the biggest thing to watch. If ticket prices go down significantly and people buy last minute or if FIFA is just that greedy and would rather have half empty stadiums for some of the lesser group stage matches than lower the prices.

I mean our country does the same thing talking about other countries not being safe to travel to and it’s not CNN on that one. In the end you have to make the call yourself to travel. On that note, soccer sucks who cares.

Are people with sophisticated tech buying all the tickets and marking them up for secondary market?

Between 5 and 7 million travelers are expected to visit the U.S. for the 2026 World Cup, with FIFA estimates indicating that around 6.5 million tourists will travel across the three host countries (the U.S., Canada, and Mexico). Roughly 40% of these are international travelers.Breakdown of Travel Expectations:Total Visitors: An estimated 6.5 million tourists (about 40% of total stadium attendees are expected to be international visitors).U.S. Influx: The U.S. State Department anticipates up to 5 to 7 million international travelers making the trip.Prior World Cups: For context, the 1994 tournament hosted in the U.S. drew about 3.59 million fans, and the 2022 tournament in Qatar drew an estimated 1.2 million international visitors over the course of the event.

Japan, Germany, Canada and the UK have issued travel advisories about the US.
It's a thing.

So you think a travel advisory by a government means people are “scared to death” to travel here.
Ummm…. Okay. LOL

It is a fact that the hotel demand is way below what they thought
The tickets are also way too expensive.

And it’s a stupid thing. Canada was just bussing fans of Montreal down to North Carolina for the Eastern conference finals in the nhl. Just a few days ago.
Canadians are generally extremely nice and likeabal, but they vote in really stupid politicians.
