Saw something posted yesterday about FIFA already angling to be back in 12yrs.
They normally take in around 8B for a WorldCup and they are on pace for 13B this year.

You realize FIFA increased the number of World Cup teams by 50%, right? Ticket sales better be up dramatically

I forgot the specifics and don't know if true, but they have stipulations around how often continents/countries can host.
They have given a few one off games in other countries for the next one that aren't necessarily part of the group, so that elimnates the continent for 2038 and then Saudi Arabia is 2034 already, so Asia is out.
They've basically locked out everyone else except the America's by doing so.
Again, don't know if true, but would makes sense based off FIFA walking away with 5B more than normal by being here.

And those 6.0+ are at a MUCH, MUCH higher average ticket price than any prior tournament

Oceania is just New Zealand, as Australia is in the Asian Confederation. There's a rumor of a potential joint "Pacific" bid that would give 95% of it to the US and then a few matches to Eden Park in Auckland (like South America in 2030), but that would probably be more trouble than it's worth
FIFA can change their rules (doubtful they would to screw us after the windfall they've gotten, if anything they'll prioritize us), but if they don't it's all but a given to come back in 2038. Worst case they allow South America to stay eligible in the rotation after the centennial matches, but if so we're 100% hosting in 2042

The other thing is that the quality of the games has been really good, and besides Cristiano Ronaldo, all of the big names have delivered. Some are even exceeding Sky-high expectations.
Also, besides the Netherlands (who had a tough match-up) and Germany, the top teams are playing well.
FIFA rankings aren’t perfect but they still do a decent job. Of the 16 teams left in the Cup, 10 of the top 12 are still in, as are 12 of the top 16 (only teams missing are Croatia, who lost to number 7 Portugal, and Italy who didn’t even qualify).
After today, it’s quite possible that the lowest-ranked teams will be Norway and Egypt.

Numbers are way up because they went from 32 to 48 teams and a lot of games are in football stadiums that hold bigger crowds than soccer stadiums.
But if you think that having the host country filled with tourists having fun and nearly 100% attendance at games is unique to 2026 then you’re simply wrong. Thats every World Cup
