Doesn’t change the fact that it shouldn’t cost tens of thousands of dollars to play fricking youth baseball.
My dad paid less money in my entire baseball career than I do for my kid in just one year, and I made and played on a state championship HS team. And we played summer travel ball as a team as well, 25 years ago.
Entrance fees for spectators, insurance being required, $500 jerseys, $400 bats that don’t last a year, it’s all ridiculous money grabs. My wife and I paid over $1000 this year just to get in the gate at tournaments to watch my kid play. Where the frick does that money go and how is it making youth baseball better?

Almost all High School kids play some level of summer ball. There are TONS of teams to choose from. Most schools across the state partner with a certain org to streamline it. Some small schools band together and partner with an org to help build a roster. The Knights are the most common in Louisiana but Luccini is who Barbe uses. All this means is there will be an option for Mandeville kids to play locally for the Knights. Most of the high level kids will play Knights or another org like Team Louisiana, USA Prime, Canes, WOW Factor to name a few. What it does is takes some of the grunt work off the local HS and all of those orgs have built in relationships with Perfect Game, 2D and PBR to get teams in tournaments. Nothing shady here at all. Every HS in the state has some path for their kids to play summer ball. This just allows more kids to have an option.

High schools have been doing this for years, this isn’t new. Catholic has been with the Knights for awhile. Yes it’s a money racket but it allows them to go play bigger tourneys in the summer and the organizations have a multitude of teams

The problem is that high school baseball pretty much sucks. They are so limited in the amount of games they can play, practice etc.
Baseball is a game you have to play to get better. High School season is over after 20-30 games. I think it's the shortest season time wise also.
Once they get to High School they play showcase tourneys. College baseball doesn't have the recruiting budget that football has. They congregate kids for a weekend of baseball. The college scouts can go to one venue and see a bunch of kids play. They seldom show up at the high school games unless it's local.
It's very different than youth travel ball. The games are scripted as far as line ups go. Winning it isn't the goal. Showing players to colleges is the goal.
