The NFL surpassed MLB in the early 90's, Baseball pulled even again in the late 90's and in the last 15 years the NFL has completely taken over

Baseball is America's pastime. Meaning when I'm board and have nothing to do nor watch, I cut on baseball. It will put me to sleep and the time just flies by. So yes baseball does a very good job of passing ?the time.

Yes

Someone said Baseball has the best game day experience, I don't think so.

I have been to Major league games, and they don't hold a candle to college football.

Every night for 3 hours I sit on my bed and watch my team. It's the greatest 3 hours of my day.

when did it surpass baseball?

TV Ratings:

CBS: 18.5 (est. 24.43 million viewers)
NBC: 22.6 (est. 26.75 million viewers)
(Total: 51.18 million viewers)

Market share:

CBS: 46
NBC: 49

Interestingly, while the broadcast(s) had big TV ratings, the game itself did not sell out (it was played in the cavernous L.A. Colosseum).

better and better HDTV's and coverage of NFL games as well as more rule changes due to TBI's will result in a bit of a decline for the NFL

tickets are too expensive and the television product is too good for fans to drive out to games in November/December on a Sunday afternoon to freeze.

I think rule changes will ding football a bit in the near future.

Baseball, for the most part, has been the same basic game since 1900.

The advent of sports on television is what did in baseball. Baseball was never as exciting a sport as football and basketball, but its game day experience was so special. You sit outside, socialize, drink, eat, etc. But it's all about television now, that's where the money is, that's where the majority of people view the majority of their sports. And baseball is suffers in comparison to the other big 2 when it comes to TV
